The Wolverhampton Circle of Magicians is holding its Annual Neville Sackville Memorial Lecture on Wednesday 8th May. This year's lecturer is Alan Shaxon with Anne. Alan will be talking about the creator of the Zig-Zag and friend, Robert Harbin, and will illustrate his lecture with original Harbin illusions and effects together with many reminiscences about the 'great man' who did so much for British magic. Marc Salem's show Mind Games opened in London on Tuesday 30th and once again he's been getting some excellent press. From an article by Bruce Dessau in The Evening Standard last week: "His show is unlike any other West End entertainment. Take a little vaudeville, add a dash of academia - and stand back..." News added Sunday evening: Derek Lever has just sent us the sad news that David De Val died on Tuesday 30th April from cancer. His daughter Ann and wife Jean wish to contact magical friends to inform them that the funeral takes place at Oldham Crematorium on Thursday 9th May at 1.30p.m. He was aged 63 years. 5.5.02
