Number 112 - 17th August 2002

Uri Geller is one of eight celebrities set to be stranded in the Australian Outback in ITV's new "reality" show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! which goes out nightly from Sunday, August 25th. The lineup also includes Christine Hamilton, Nigel Benn, Rhona Cameron, Nell McAndrew, Darren Day, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Tony Blackburn. The eight will spend a fortnight surviving on basic rations such as rice and water, will build their own shelters, hunt for extra food and so on, with one being voted off every other day by the public. Nigel Benn, Rhona Cameron and Uri Geller all have the grit to endure, but I'm not too sure about the rest of them! No doubt the production company will really turn up the heat in order to provoke unrest and conflict  - the real ingredients that make this type of show work. Uri Geller presents The Uri Geller Experience live on stage on Saturday September 28th at Mind Body Soul, Colchester: Click Here. For more Uri Geller dates: Click Here. In keeping, having completed a course of seven inoculations and a variety of security checks including briefings with the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Navy in Portsmouth, he sets off on Thursday 22nd August to perform some "very carefully scripted" magic and mentalism at US and British military camps in Saudi Arabia. For some motivational work, Kevin explains, part of his brief is to generate "enthusiastic adverse response" but for this booking, in a country where jumping a red light can earn a hefty fine and three days in prison, wishing to return with all of his faculties in tact and on the planned date, he has vowed to "stick to the script." 17.8.02
