The Bullet Trick by Louise Welsh. When down-at-heel conjurer William Wilson gets booked for a string of cabaret gigs in Berlin, he is hoping his luck is on the turn. There are certain spectators from his live show which he would rather forget. So begins the saga in the life of story hero, magician William Wilson. The story flits from Berlin to London to Glasgow and it is an unputdownable thriller. Ms Welsh’s descriptive writing brings the seedy world of this particular cabaret magician to life. I am sure many magicians will relate to it! Louise Welsh’s writing awards include the Crime Writers’ Association Creasey Dagger and the Saltire First Book Award, including the best selling The Cutting Room and Tamburlaine Must Die. If you want a fast paced, page turning thriller with a strong magical theme, this is the book for you. Reviewed by Jack Stephens. Available from Amazon.co.uk Click Here. 10.2.07
