Later this month Ian will fly to the FBI’s training facility in Quantico, Virginia, to spend a day training members of their Behavioural Analysis Team. For the past three years I’ve been running public courses on Applied Cold Reading or ACR for short. This takes some elements of cold reading and adapts them to non-psychic contexts such as sales, management and therapy. I have also started a new course, called Persuasion Secrets of a Mindreader, which I’ve started selling to companies and which will form the basis of my next book. I will combining elements from both these courses in my day’s training for the FBI”. The general aim, Ian explains, is to share some psychological persuasion techniques that might help agents to secure greater co-operation from suspects or witnesses. Last year Ian was hired for similar reasons to lecture to the Ministry of Defence. 14.8.10
