"Guess Who?" That's the question on everyone's lips before the presentation of the David Berglas International Magic Award at The International Magic Convention every year. Always a closely guarded secret, previous recipients have included Uri Geller, David Copperfield, Juan Tamariz and Derren Brown all of whom, following the presentation, have taken questions from the Convention audience and provided an amazingly frank, illuminating and entertaining hour. This year promises to be no different with the recipient being ... well that would be telling. The only way to find out and be part of this amazing annual event is to be sure to be in the audience on the Sunday afternoon. The presentation closes the daytime events of the Convention which runs from the Friday evening to Sunday (November 16th-18th) and this year features 7 lectures, 2 special stage shows, the close-up competition, and two Gala Shows - one close-up and one stage. A full weekend of top notch magic, comedy and variety to satisfy even the most voracious of magical appetites, and as if that isn't enough you'll even have a chance to have in-depth day seminars on your particular interests in magic at The Festival of Magic in the week leading up to the Convention. The Timeless Project DVD. New from rsvpmagic: "The Timeless Project DVD features 5 stunning routines built around their best selling deck, 'Timeless'. 'Inside the Timeless Deck are hidden secrets that allow you to perform some amazing magic; all unique to this deck of cards' said Russ Stevens. The Timeless Project includes 1 gimmicked Timeless Deck, 1 Regular Timeless Deck and a full instructional DVD starring Gary Jones. Included is the stunning routine, 'Second Hand'. A spectator is merely asked to think of their favourite time. Nothing is written down and no-one is told the time at any moment during the routine. The magician now takes a Timeless Deck that has been sitting in full view throughout and opens the box, showing all the cards are face up, except for one... the magician removes the card and for the first time the spectator names the time that they merely thought of. When they turn over the card the illustration is holding a timepiece with their exact time on it! No pre-show, no stooging and the first moment that the spectator names their thought of time is when they are holding the card!" Watch the trailer for The Timeless Project here: www.rsvpmagic.com." 1.9.12

Latex by Nefesch. Now available from MagicTao: "You borrow a coin from a spectator. You ask the spectator to sign the coin, on both sides. You show the spectator a balloon and ask them to place their signed coin inside the balloon. You then inflate and tie off the balloon. For effect, you can shake the balloon to verify that the signed coin is still inside. You then proceed to do the impossible; you start to pull out the spectator’s signed coin from inside the balloon. The spectator will see the coin emerging from the balloon. You then show that, in fact, there is no hole in the balloon for the coin to emerge from. As an additional kicker, you can burst the balloon and then show it repaired. No duplicate coins; Borrowed coin; No palming; Start clean - end clean; Perform surrounded! The Death & Life of The Great Lafayette. Allen Tipton writes: The 100 page book, The Death & Life of The Great Lafayette just arrived - ordered 2 days ago! It contains dozens of photos including some of the funeral procession, Beauty's transparent coffin with TGL's ashes in a wooden box by her paws, The giant floral tribute saying, The Last Act, The old Empire and its destroyed stage and the Festival Theatre with Ian Robertson and Gordon Rutter, the book's authors, standing in the Lafayette corner (4th. floor next to the stairs) with some of the exhibits on the walls. There are more photos of Lalla Selbini, plus her efforts to take part of TGL's show which had not been burned back on the road. These included The Lion's Bride and a startling appearance of The Great Lafayette at the end of the show - do not get too excited. There are photos and stories of Oswald Stoll, legends like Chung Ling Soo, Houdini, Kellar and miscellaneous variety acts. Plus of course Lafayette himself. Dunninger Knows. Joe Atmore writes: Dunninger Knows is now available for pre-order! In the ten years since the publication of Dunninger's Brain Busters, I have collected a huge amount of TV scripts, researched the popular and magic press, conducted interviews with cast and crew and located film footage of his television work. This new book covers all of his television series in chronological / airdate order and some of his guest appearances on other shows. The "in between series" years are also covered. There is quite a lot of the behind the scenes history into his four series and rare and unique photographs and documents tell the story. While consulting on Uri Geller's show in Germany a few years ago, we even tracked down a 1955 television film in Europe. Over 100 Brain Busters are examined not only by me, but by Banachek, Jan Bardi, Stuart Cumberland, Ken Dyne, Lee Earle, Mathias Fischedick, Nicolai Friedrich, Devin Knight, Looch, Drew McAdam, Colin Mcleod, Max Maven, Richard Osterlind and Marc Paul. The forward is being written by a very special person who can truly understand Dunninger's impact to the world of mentalism. This hardbound book will be 8½" x 11" and over 400 pages in length. The cost is $70. Publication date is expected early November 2012 - but you can order it now. Pre-order special includes free shipping anywhere in the world and a special Dunninger gift. To order, email info@josephatmore.com for payment details. 1.9.12
