Tribute to Patrick Page: British Magical Society. Paul Cadley
writes: On Tuesday 20th November the British Magical Society is
proud to present – A Tribute to Patrick Page. In 1993 the members of the
British Magical Society awarded Patrick Page The David Berglas Award,
for “Outstanding Contribution to British Magic”. With a special evening
on Tuesday 20th November 2012 we are delighted to welcome Janette and
Jeremy Page, to a Tribute Evening to their father. The President and
members will present a selection of Patrick Page effects, collections of
memories and anecdotes, illustrated by video footage of the man himself,
and Janette and Jeremy will be interviewed by the President recalling
memories of their father’s long career in magic, and of the many famous
names in the history of magic that became family friends. Definitely a
evening not to be missed. 7.30pm on Tuesday 20th November. Non-members

Card Shark Show... An interactive multi-media show by award winning
close-up magician Steve Truglia at the Mayfair Theatre, Mayfair Hotel,

Application forms for The Young Magician of
the Year Competition
2013 are now available. The Competition is open to young persons who
will have
reached the age of 14 but who are not yet 18 on 1st January 2013.
Competitors
must present an act of Stage Magic lasting between 8 and 12 minutes.
Full rules
are on the application form.
The Heats will be held at the Headquarters of The
Magic Circle on 10th March 2013 and the Final will be on April 7th.

Volpe Derby Lecture, 2013. Paul Sharp writes: Luca Volpe will be
presenting his 'Lecture Show' for the Derby Magic Circle on Wednesday,
23rd January 2013, at Breadsall Village Hall, Derby. Luca Volpe’s
lecture is the presentation of stage and close up routines from his
professional repertoire, which have been tested in hundreds of
performances on live audiences all around the world. All routines are
100% commercial and easy to perform, blending new and old methods, thus
creating ‘entertaining experiences’ that the audience will never forget.
These lectures are created, with the spectator in mind. To promote this

Des King will be appearing as Dame in Sleeping Beauty this year, at the
New Theatre Hull. This will be Des’s 30th Pantomime and in the last 12
has played the part of Dame, which he clearly enjoys as he keeps coming
back for more. This year he is particularly looking forward to it having
had a break from Panto of 15 years. During this time he and his wife
have been working on luxury cruise ships with their comedy act “The
Great Desmondo and Cherry - The Worlds Worst Magicians”. Now back on dry
land he couldn’t be more thrilled to be doing Panto at the New Theatre
Hull. Des last played this theatre 30 years ago, so if he’s a success he
might be back again in 30 years time.
