International Magic Social Day: November 20th in Chiswick, London. International Magic is holding another 'Social Day' this year. A day of lectures, interviews, panel discussions and a chance for a get-together and some sessioning, and to catch-up with magic friends before the hectic Christmas season kicks in. Noel Britten, previous International Magic Convention co-organiser writes: Having still not been able to find a suitable venue for a full Convention as we normally hold at this time of year, we are repeating the highly successful format of last year's shindig. Running from 2pm to 10pm gives time for a varied bill of events from many of magic's top names, and also a chance for a chat and a meet up with other magicians in a relaxed and comfortable environment. The day has already been offered to our customers on our Convention database but we have a very limited number of extra tickets still available for the full day. The function room of this popular pub in Chiswick hosts a regular comedy club and corporate events, so is an ideal location for the blend of talks, discussions and interviews that will make up the day, whilst the pub proper offers excellent food throughout the day... get there early and have a great Sunday Roast before the magic begins. Tickets are only £10 per person. If you are interested in attending the event please contact me at noelbritten@talk21.com to have your name added to the attendees. www.internationalmagic.com. 17.9.16

"When I was a child I was fascinated with the magical emotion that I felt upon watching magicians. I could not comprehend anything—what I would see was impossible; now I love to feel this emotion. It does not occur very often. Normally, I can see behind the curtain—I see the 'hidden' secrets and the mechanics. But from time to time a magician performs a trick, or several tricks that seem impossible—and the magical emotion returns. This happens to me with Jim Krenz (how wonderful!). For this, thank you Jim!" Juan Tamariz.

Tour organiser Steve Gore writes: "I have been emailed several times by Juan Tamariz, saying 'You must arrange a tour for my friend Jim Krenz, he is incredible' - so I had best do as I am told! Jim is touring the UK in November 2017 and would love to lecture for you. Contact me with your preferred date asap! tours@stevegore.co.uk. 17.9.16

Barbara McNaughton. Steve Cook writes: I am very sad to report the death of my friend, Barbara McNaughton, the partner of my magical hero, the late, Ken Brooke. Barbara often reminded me of Ken: she could be outspoken, controversial sometimes, and saw everything in black and white. Her self-deprecating Irish wit was always at the fore. I visited her a few times at her home in Hove, and with a glass of wine (or three!) we reminisced about the 'golden times', and about some of the wonderful characters around in the 'Soho days'. Barbara was a massive help to me when I compiled the book on Ken, and some of her revelations about those times in Soho were eye-openingly incredible! I would phone her almost weekly for an 'update on life'. I truly admired Barbara for the devotion and care she showed Ken in his final days. I send my sincere condolences to her sister, Jenny, and to Barbara's family and friends throughout the world. RIP. 17.9.16
