The Magic Dealers Day, Park Plaza Victoria Hotel, London, Saturday 19th October. From the organisers: October is the most magical month – Halloween is coming and Christmas is on the horizon. The perfect time to drink hot chocolate, tell spook stories and perform some magic. But not just perform – to see the latest releases, hunt down rare books, and stock up on props and gimmicks for the season ahead – because it’s the month of the Magic Dealers Day!

The Magic Circle has run a very successful one day magic market under the name "Dealers Day" for many years. In addition to expanding the size of the event with more dealers than ever before, we’ve moved the renamed "Magic Dealers Day" to a new and more suitable home – the Park Plaza Victoria Hotel. Less than 200 yards from London's Victoria station, this four star venue is able to offer us our own floor with not only a dealers hall but also lecture space, cloakrooms and restrooms, and our own breakout space for refreshments and relaxing and trying out our magic.

With the new facilities we are bringing you more from the day: we’re scheduling a masterclass at lunchtime, we’ll have food and drink available so you can hang out in comfort with your friends to discuss your latest or upcoming purchases, and because we have more space in the dealers hall. We’ve now got for the first time puppets, bubble and balloon vendors, and even a bespoke tailor coming along, one who knows all about our suits’ sometimes unusual requirements. Full details of the vendors, lectures, special events and mystery guests (for now) will be on our Facebook page.

You don’t have to be a member of The Magic Circle to attend! Non-member tickets will be available on the door for just £10, and the event remains free to members of The Magic Circle and the Young Magicians Club (YMC free entry also includes one parent/guardian adult). The Magic Dealers Day, Saturday 19th October, from 10.30am to 5pm. The Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, 239 Vauxhall Bridge Road, London SW1V 1EQ (Map). 14.9.19

"Passion in Performing with Paul Zenon" on the Magicians' Advice Podcast. Magicians' Advice Podcast write: Episode 103 is available now, this time with Paul Zenon! Check it out here Click Here or direct via your podcast app, iTunes or Spotify. We recorded this just before Paul's successful Edinburgh run. The advice he shares is timeless and the passion he has for creating an amazing experience is something we can all learn from. Paul talks about creating a one-man show – the thought process behind it and how he put it all together. He talks about TV work, creating a seemingly endless stream of new material which works on Countdown and how to take into account things like camera angles and restrictions. Paul also mentions talent shows like BGT as well as a host of other topics. But the thing which comes through the most is that Paul has a huge passion in what he performs and his goal is to make magic the best it can be. 14.9.19

David Nixon remembered. Last week at the British Ring Eastbourne convention Eddie Dawes and Steve Short, together with Steve’s wife Carla, met up with Vivienne and Mandy Nixon, wife and daughter of David Nixon. Vivienne presented Eddie with David’s Magic Circle membership certificates, which will be held with David Hibberd in The Magic Circle archives in London. Vivienne and Mandy contributed enormously with information and memorabilia for the David Nixon biography written and researched by Eddie and Steve in 2009. For this, Eddie and Steve received The Magic Circle John Nevil Maskelyne prize in 2010. David Nixon would have been 100 this year, so this was a very special occasion. 14.9.19
