A Night of Illusion

The sell out success of ‘A Night of Illusion’ featured Joe Stone, Ed Francis,
Katherine Rhodes and Lee Hathaway with his ‘famous’ Lemon trick.
The earlier acts worked the front and the first few rows with close-up sleight
of hand magic, Joe’s cup and mouse being very well received, with Ed’s rope
magic and various card sleights getting the crowd into the mood.
Stef compared in between each act, drumming up vocal support and applause. A
short recess of around 20 minutes allowed for refreshments and the two final
acts to prepare. The Zeppelin had already given out ‘interval order sheets’
which helped cater for 60 thirsty revelers more quickly.
After the interval, Katherine employed a bouncing inflated balloon to choose her
victims from the audience cowering at the back, with her ‘mentalist’ illusions
and tricks baffling even the most skeptical, especially with her free £500 act.
Lee was last on and anyone that knows his work is familiar with his
regurgitations, which incidentally are very sticky to clear up. The culmination
being ‘the lemon trick’ which needs to be seen to be believed.
It was a surprisingly hot night for September and the audience were soon
enjoying further refreshment and the cool terrace bar, whilst chatting with the
entertainers.
Stef Brown is comparing another event for The Zeppelin on Halloween, Saturday
31st October, aptly called 'A Spooky night of illusion.' This time the audience
will be upstairs in the bigger free flowing space and will feature the house
magician Ed Francis with Joe Stone and new guests Russell Levinson and Josh
Maddocks. Because it is Halloween, the audience is not only encouraged to dress
up and partake in mulled wine and Halloween treats, but to stay on afterwards in
a party atmosphere.
Tickets are limited to 60 seated again, so if you can’t make this event, look
out for the next free 1st Tuesday of the month, every month show.
