Nick
Einhorn's The Art of Magic and Sleight of Hand has just been published
by Lorenz Books and is arguably the finest magic book for general release
since Mark Wilson's excellent Complete Course in Magic back in '75,
and, before that, Henry Hay's The Amateur Magician's Handbook in
1950! This is the sort of book that can stimulate an interest in magic
that will last a lifetime. The production values are high, and the book is big...
with
120 tricks, 250 pages, and 1,000 colour photographs. Each section has an introduction, so for
example, the Mind Magic section talks about such performers as David
Berglas and Graham P Jolley before delving into the magic. Excellent in
every way this book gets my highest recommendation - it's targeted at both
teenagers and adults alike. You can order it by return from
Amazon.co.uk right now in hardcover. Nick Einhorn is a member of The Inner Magic Circle and
became The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year in 1996. Currently
he is coaching two actors for Bright Young Things, an upcoming movie
being directed by Stephen Fry.

Jeff Sheridan will be making his first ever appearance in the UK at this
year's International Magic Convention in December - presenting close-up
magic and lecturing. Jeff Sheridan performed for many years in Central
Park, New York (photo by William Bigart, from 'Street Magic' now published
by Kaufman and Company) with his own
contemporary street act. Health permitting Tony Corinda will also be at
the convention, and will be interviewed by
Andy Nyman. If you
are
attending, and have a question or two, you can submit them by email to
Andy at corindaquestions@hotmail.com Also booked to lecture: Chris Korn
(USA), The Buck Twins (USA), Nathan Kranzo (USA), and Shoot Ogawa (Japan). Martin's done it again
as they say.

Andi
Gladwin has just returned from Boston where he was filming with Andy
Leviss for a new DVD that will be released next year through the company
that they run, A² Productions, and also via distributors Murphy's Magic
Supplies. The disc is titled 'Passing Thoughts,' Andi writes: "It
approaches a number of original Passes that require no additional physical
or mental misdirection. With this in mind, many of the Passes are a lot
easier than the traditional and often abused moves. We don't even touch on
previously published and already popular moves - instead, we've tracked
down some excellent Passes from some brilliant card magicians as well as
some from Andy and myself."

Magic
Matt appeared on Live with...Chris Moyles on Channel 5 last
Monday. He was filmed pick pocketing in the audience, who happened to be "a
bunch of Bankers" and was later introduced as a professional pickpocket.
Unfortunately, as can happen with live TV, time ran out when it came to
handing back all the 'stolen' goods... which was done later on, off-air!
