Nicholas Einhorn's done it again! In a cleverly constructed act (that went "full circle") Nick wowed the audience at The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year Competition on Monday evening with a skilful performance that ended on a real magical high. I don't like listing tricks... so book Nick's act and see it for yourselves - his original finish drew gasps - excellent! This is the second time that Nick has won the competition, and this year the standard was higher than ever. So, many congratulations to Nick, and also to Fay Presto in second place and Etienne Pradier in third; all three professional magicians. Nick's newly published book, The Art of Magic and Sleight of Hand is now on special offer from Amazon.co.uk (see last week's news). For information about booking Nick email: info@einhorn.co.uk Also, Nick can be seen on RI:SE, on Channel 4 on Monday morning between 6.55am and 9am. 9.11.02

Duncan Trillo is the magic advisor on the upcoming series of Jonathan Creek starring Alan Davis. In this scene, shot in a large country house in Buckinghamshire, Creek has just explained how he managed to know the name of a chosen playing card... without actually giving anything away. "The script was just as clever as the magic - offering an explanation that made 'perfect sense' yet didn't involve the disclosure of the actual method." The series will air in the Spring on BBC1. 9.11.02

"Metroland offers the opportunity for new directors to bring original views of London to Carlton Television. We follow their attempt to join The Magic Circle - a colourful and mysterious society that has allowed unique access into their world of secrets and illusions." At 7.30pm on Thursday 21st November on Carlton, ITV1. 9.11.02

Black Artefact's original effect, 'Power of The Tarot', has just had a facelift. "Power of The Tarot was the very first Bizarre Magick effect that I ever performed. It is still one of my favourite effects for close-up, séance and psychic readings... it follows all of the principles I love in Bizarre Magick: It is very simple to do and you can concentrate 100% on the presentation. It has a great effect on your audience. It is now an almost instant reset. After many years of performing this effect I managed to improve it! I have found a new Tarot card stock with really vibrant pictures which make the visual impact of this effect even greater. I honestly never thought that this effect could be improved until now." Said company boss, Keith Hart. More information and their full online catalogue at www.blackhart.co.uk 9.11.02

David Blaine works his magic in an online interview by Newsday staff writer David Behrens Click Here (to buy David Blaine's new book, discussed in the article, Click Here) • Alakazam.co.uk have Derren Brown's Pure Effect back in stock - this book is generally unavailable so hurry! • To date we have only had two problems with sellers advertising via our classified ads... if buying videos or DVD's please establish that you are buying originals and not copies, keep a record of who you are dealing with, and inform us immediately if any advertiser is trying to sell copies so that we can pass on their details to the authorised manufacturer. Also please let us know if anyone is using a false name or requesting payment to be made to a different name from the one that they were advertising under. Again... we've only had two "problem people" out of thousands that have used the ads to date but I do want to keep a tight check on it all - with your help • That's all for this week, your news is always welcomed, see you next week, Duncan. (P.S. Don't forget to watch Alan Partridge on Monday night - Ah-ha!) 9.11.02
