Secrets
of Magic. The Magic Circle Council issued the following statement to
MagicWeek on Monday, 15th September:
Indocilis Privata
Loqui
The motto of The Magic Circle is a reflection of one of the most
fundamental rules of our society - we do not disclose our secrets.
It is therefore not surprising that, when BBC1 broadcast "The Secrets of
Magic" on August 2nd, The Magic Circle Council received dozens of
complaints from members. In line with our disciplinary procedures, the
members involved were duly asked to make representation to the Council to
explain their involvement. Having considered those representations, the
following course of action was agreed by a majority vote of The Council.
Resignations from Andrew O’Connor, Anthony Owen and Michael Vine were
accepted. A request for Etienne Pradier to resign will be actioned with
immediate effect. Andy Nyman, having detailed his involvement and assured
The Council that he would not be part of any future programmes of this
nature, will be suspended from membership for a period of six months with
immediate effect. Richard Pinner also provided an explanation of his
limited involvement and gave a similar assurance regarding future
programmes. His explanation was accepted by the Council and no further
action will be taken.
The Magic Circle Council wishes it to be known that this sad episode in
our history is now closed and no further discussion on this matter will
take place.
Richard Stupple, Chairman - The Magic Circle Council. 11th September 2003
I would like to make it
quite clear that the Michael Vine referred to in our statement [above] is
not to be confused with Michael Vine M.M.C. of Elstree, Herts, who is a
member in good standing, a solicitor by profession and recently stood for
election to The Magic Circle Council.
My apologies to Michael for any confusion that may have been caused.
Richard Stupple, Chairman - The Magic Circle Council. 18th September 2003 |

Would anyone who
purchased a "second hand" Martin Breese Magic disc from "Mark Rosz"
via the free For Sale ads on MagicWeek please contact Martin
Breese: martin@abracadabra.co.uk
- you may well not be aware that you bought a copy. A number of pirated
discs were sold and Martin is, quite rightly, investigating. MagicWeek is
no longer accepting private For Sale or Wanted ads for CDs,
DVDs or videos (or e-books of course) - please read the

before sending in an ad.
