The
Nottingham Guild of Magicians celebrate their 65th Anniversary this
year with a One-Day Magic Convention in June at the Arnold Leisure Centre,
Nottingham. Derek Lever, Mark Shortland, David Jones and Guy Barrett all
lecture. Castle Magic, Hocus Pocus, Shirley Ray, Macrow Magic, Paul
Gordon, Little Joe and Illusioncraft will be in the dealers room and in
the evening in the Bonington Theatre, in the same complex, Clive Moore,
Shane, Nick Brunger, Tony Adams & Grandad, Peter McCahon, Mark Shortland
and Guy Barrett & Co. (photo) perform. Day tickets cost £14.50 and Evening

The
Leeds Magical Association Convention takes place this weekend, May 15th and
16th at the Ramada Leeds Parkway
Hotel. The hotel has a self contained conference and banqueting suite in
which all the activities will take place and overnight guests will have
use of the extensive leisure facilities and pool. The events begin on the
Saturday evening with the President's Dinner and International Cabaret.
Shirley Ray is President this year and diners can look forward to a top
notch meal and five-act cabaret. The Sunday Convention features 17
dealers, a dealer demonstration, two star lectures, all star close-up,
'Learn with the Experts' and a closing cabaret show. The artistes lined-up

Penn has had a busy two weeks performing at Trade Shows for Bristol
& West and virus software company Avecho as well as working
with England's Rugby World Cup coach, Clive Woodwood. David's shows at the
Infosec Trade Show featured close-up magic and Jim Steinmeyer's
Audience Dismember illusion. The success of David's presentation style
was evident when trade show organisers revealed that Avecho's stand was
officially the busiest of the whole exhibition.

Sam
X defended his Magic Club of Great Britain Magician of the Year title
on May 13th by winning the competition for the second year running. The
judging panel of three included a member of the public, an amateur
magician and Magic Circle member Ed Stivala.
