This
year sees the 50th anniversary of the Magic Circle’s Young Magician of
the Year Competition, and on Sunday, 18th September a very special
day long event is being planned to commemorate it at The Magic Circle's
HQ in London. Open to everyone this full day of lectures, presentations,
close-up and stage shows will be unique in that all artists appearing
will be past entrants of this celebrated Competition. Noel Britten, who
is organizing the event entitled "YMOTY Revisited" says, "the incredibly
wide range of magic related activities that some of the entrants have
gone into, and the levels that they have reached in their selected areas
shows the great range of talent that this Competition has fostered over
the years. And I’m not just talking about the winners. Many of the
finalists are now at the top of their particular field, and I am very
happy to say that a great number of them have agreed to come along and
support what looks to be a very special day. In putting the event
together I’ve been genuinely surprised how many well-established
magicians have been in the finals of the competition – some truly
surprising from a way back and can't have been called "Young" for quite
a while now! And some who entered under their real names, and whose
connections to the Competition have only recently come to light." The
tickets are very limited in number, and priced at £27 (for young
magicians under 18 and their guardians), £35 (for Magic Circle Members),
and £45 (for non-members). Email
noelbritten@themagiccircle.co.uk to register or for more details.

Look
No Hands, Wayne Dobson - new lecture and book! Wayne Dobson's latest
publication features 10 incredible "hands-off" routines: "The one
condition I set myself in developing these routines is that effects
would not be diluted just because they were "hands-off" – in fact, if
anything, they would become stronger. Well they did become stronger,
much stronger! A couple of these routines have been published before
however they have now been fully updated to become totally hands-off.
For instance my 'Echo' routine is fully described with complete patter
and a new finish. There are also lots of new routines that are all
extremely commercial." Look No Hands is a 40 page soft bound book
available directly from Wayne Dobson via
www.waynedobson.co.uk. Wayne will also be presenting the brand-new
lecture Look No Hands, which received rave reviews when it was
given in the USA last autumn, for the first time here in the UK on the
Friday night at the upcoming
Blackpool
Convention - don't miss it!

Lee
Alex made a rare and brief visit to Blackpool recently. He hadn't
arrived early for the convention, but was filming his new DVD "Time for
a Change?" on quick change for magicians, with illusionist Russ Stevens
of RSVP Magic. Russ made an excellent job of capturing the in-depth
information, a subject which was new to him. Braving the icy cold Lee
and Russ worked long and hard, the results of which can be seen on the
DVD trailer:
Click Here. The DVD will be launched at the upcoming Blackpool Magic
Convention where Lee Alex will be a guest on the RSVP Magic stand. After
Blackpool Lee takes the DVD to Las Vegas to the World Magic Seminar, and
then on to the Magic Castle, Hollywood and the FLASOMA FISM Latin
American Championships in Guatemala. The DVD may also be pre-ordered via
