Number 561 - 26th March 2011
'Palladium
Magic' - Meet the Legends. Paul Stone writes: I am pleased to
announce details of a unique magic event on Sunday 18th September which
is linked to the exciting 'Palladium Magic' Show. 'Meet the Legends' is
a very exclusive event at the 5 Star Hilton Courthouse Hotel on Great
Marlborough Street, just 30 metres from the Stage Door of the London
Palladium. The 'Meet the Legends' event will be from 1pm - 5pm, and will
take place in the superb 'Release' Preview Theatre and the Silk Room
inside the Courthouse Hotel. This will genuinely be an extremely special
event because you will have the chance to not only rub shoulders and
spend time with magic legends like John Calvert, Jack Kodell, Silvan and
Marvin Roy but to also hear them reminisce and talk about their
experiences playing the London Palladium. You'll have the opportunity to
chat to these legends and also to several of the cast of the 'Palladium
Magic' Show. Star names include Mac King, Johnny & Pam Thompson, Michael
Finney, Nathalie Enterline and Kris Kremo. There will also be a 'photo
opportunity' for everyone to have their photograph taken with the 'Magic
Legends' and the 'Palladium Magic' performers and to get autographs.
Light refreshments will be provided and also a special souvenir of the
event. There are only 50 places available - Tickets are £95. I
anticipate that the 50 tickets will sell quickly, so if you are
interested, please email
producer@palladiummagic.com to reserve your place.

Time-travelling
Victorian Magicians, Morgan & West, are returning to the future to
preview their Edinburgh show at the Canal Cafe Theatre, London on
Wednesday 6th April. Come along to see some of their favourite material
from last year's Time Travelling Magicians mixed with some brand
new material. For their new show a strange series of events is forcing
them to mix deception with detection as they show off skills beyond
their standard fare of unparalleled precognitive powers and totally
genuine ability to travel through time... This is the first of four
previews, which will take place on the first Wednesday of each month
until August. Each preview will have a different mix of material, all of
which will have the Morgan & West hallmark blend of magic, wit and
whimsy. Tickets are a mere £8, or £6.50 if you're already a Canal Cafe

are very pleased to announce the arrival from the USA of this
fascinating new mini-illusion which uses no threads, wire, magnets or
sticky stuff! The Anti-Gravity Sharpie feels and writes like an
ordinary Sharpie, except this one defies gravity. It's one of the few

Close-up
magician wanted for Wonderbus days. Paul Zenon emails: We're
organising a Spring Tea Dance (on a loosely Jazz/Swing theme) for The
Wonderbus Charity that I set up a few years back (www.thewonderbus.org)
which organises days out and entertainment for older people; it will
take place on Friday 1st of April (no; really!) in Brighton and we're
looking for someone to do some close-up for a couple of hours from
lunchtime. Ideally it would suit someone local as there's no fee
involved but lovely food, drink and people and slightly increased odds
of getting to heaven. We run various events monthly, generally around
the Sussex area, and so if anyone is in interested in getting involved
at any time, please drop a line to Simone at
admin@thewonderbus.org.

Magicseen
Taster Issue 7 is out and has the usual mix of a few items from the
current issue (No. 37) combined with a couple extracted from Back
Issues. Editor Mark Leveridge writes: Issue 37 cover star Ali Cook is in
Taster Issue 7 and we discover what he has been up to in the 6 years
since he appeared on the cover of our very first issue in March 2005.
Also from the current issue we offer you the full article on American
female mentalist Angela Funovits, who talks to us about her life and
work. Then from our back issues we include the first part of a major
feature on working magic in restaurants called Turning The Tables, plus
Daniel Lander lifts the lid on the strange world of Magic Box Unpackers,
those young magicians who buy magic and then post video of themselves
opening the parcels on YouTube! Taster Issue 7 is then completed with
the news page from the current issue as well as some of the product
reviews. Taster Issue 7 is completely free to download right now from

middle-ages to modern day psychics, Charlatan is part history
lesson and part magic show, laced with a generous helping of cautionary
tales. Simon will be presenting three shows on the 24th, 25th and 29th

Mario
Morris has just returned to his home town, Cardiff, following a tour
of
Italy where he was invited to present his lecture and show at Magic
clubs up and down the country. Wherever he went he received great
feedback from other magicians, and fellow performers queued to get his
autograph. Club Arte Magica in Milano gave him a standing ovation at the
close of his show and awarded him with honorary membership of their
club, on March 10th, for services to the World of Magic, a rare honour
indeed. Raul Cremona President of the Club Arte Magica said this was a
very important and enjoyable lecture and show.

Counties Magical Society Paul Pearman Cup. Keith Churcher
reports: The competition for the
Paul Pearman Cup took place on 17th March, and saw five of members
competing; Rob Bone, Steve Cantwell, Danielle Corbishley, Rob Gaffney
and Danny Jurmann. An appreciative and responsive audience were both
entertained and mystified by the varied programme offered. Judging was
in the capable hands of Martin and Katie Pearman (son and
daughter-in-law of the Cup's donor) and Robert Heinemann. The winner was
Danielle Corbishley with her delightful Victorian Style presentation and
the Pearman Cup was handed over, by Robin Maddy (President). All in All
- an enjoyable and satisfying Competition which showed very clearly that
not only has "Britain Got Talent" but that "The Home Counties Magical
Society has got Magical Talent". Further information about the Danielle
Corbishley can be found at
