Pickpocket
Targets The Governor. Guests at the Governor’s Ball in The Great
Hall, Winchester Castle on Friday were astonished by the skill and
dexterity of pickpocket entertainer James Freedman “The Man of Steal”.
During his act James invites members of the audience onto the stage to
retrieve wallets, watches and other possessions that he has stolen!
Among the unsuspecting victims at the castle was guest of honour Mervyn
King who was delighted to have his valuables returned. This unusual
encounter makes James the only person to have picked the pockets of The
Mayor of London, The Chancellor of the Exchequer and now the Governor of
The Bank of England... He’s lucky he is not in the Tower!

KISS
by John Derris: "You’re good at magic. You handle your effects and
routines pretty well. Your shows get a good response. There’s nothing
fundamentally wrong and yet in your heart you know that your magic
performance could be better. There’s something missing … the X factor
that big name magicians bask in, with confidence that brings them more
bookings, bigger fees and an inner satisfaction that says they are
better than most. Everybody who steps onto a stage has this potential
and it is nothing to do with magic technique. It’s to do with you and
how the world sees you..." 132 pages, available directly from the

Advice on comedy for kids, character building, marketing and so much
more. Full patter with many of the routines! For over 15 years I

Matt
Edmondson, BBC Radio 1 DJ and amateur magician, has been nominated
by the Sony Radio Awards as a 'Rising Star' - readers can support Matt
by voting here
risingstar.sony.co.uk. A rising star on the radio and TV scene, Matt
Edmondson began broadcasting on Radio 1 in January 2010 as an
entertainment reporter for Fearne Cotton. His talent for humorous,
skilled delivery was evident at an early stage, casting opinion on
popular music and entertainment for the youth focused BBC station. Since
then, Matt has been heard across the station including the red carpet at
The Brits, night time programming, weekday stints and weekend shows.
With an ability to exploit the potential of the medium to its full, Matt
has filled a gap, with witty, social and engaging presentation. To cap
things off, Matt has been rewarded with his own show from April 2011, a
true indication of a star rising to the top of their industry. (A little
history, Matt reviewed James Freedman's lecture at The Magic Circle for
MagicWeek, back in 2004,

April Foolery success. Mel Mellers, Sean Sparling and Darren
Kidby raised over £1,800 for the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air
Ambulance at 'April Foolery', a dinner and cabaret fundraising evening
on 1 April at the Petwood Hotel, Woodhall Spa. During dinner the guests
were expertly entertained at their tables by Darren Kidby and Sean
Sparling with much laughter, merriment and applause. Sean Sparling
slipped seamlessly into the role of MC and having conducted a riotous
Prize Draw for a 'Day for Four with the Red Arrows' introduced the star
for the evening, Mel Mellers. With balloons, ropes, a raccoon,
hand-chopper besides his amazing wit and repartee, Mel had the audience
in the palm of his hand; a masterful 45 minute performance that left the
audience helpless with laughter. Overall, a wonderful evening of magical
entertainment for which the Air Ambulance will be eternally grateful.
