Find
the Lady... A London Film Production company is currently making a
documentary about Faust and 'Find the Lady'. In the late 80's Faust
(Granville Taylor) had explored the possibility of getting this illusion
filmed at his local theatre, the Pendle Hippodrome theatre in Colne in
Lancashire, and after inspecting the stage facilities he realised that
it was possible to rig it up, but as he was still touring with his big
illusion show he did not follow up the idea..." 30 years on and the

does Variety. Following a successful audition Mel Harvey is through
to the regional Final of "Britain does Variety". The show takes place at
7.30pm at The Princes Hall, Aldershot on Saturday 21st May. Mel has only
five minutes to impress the judges with his comedy and magic (and
custard suit) before the next act comes on. It will be a show packed
with all types of variety acts and should be a good evening for all. Any
magicians in the area are welcome to attend with their families - the
more the merrier as it is the audience votes that count and as Mel says
it's a case of "votes make prizes!" Before that Mel looks forward to
meeting friends old and new at

"Launch
of KISS unbelievably successful!" The words of President Roy
Mackenzie of the South London Magic Society at the official magic club
launch of John Derris's new book KISS (photo). "The publication that
promises to help magicians achieve a new level of performance, by
adopting a business principle that John Derris successfully used in his
advertising agency for 30 years. On retirement John adopted the system
KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid!) to magic that led to engagements all over
the world including Japan, Russia, Africa and all parts of Europe. This
could be the book you've been waiting for ever since you took up magic!
Members were the first to see the new book and the presentation included
a summary of the concept, together with the unique routines and effects
that made the KISS programme so successful. On Thursday April 21st John
gave a special presentation of his new book at The Nottingham Guild of
Magicians. During the evening he covered the concept of selling and
presenting magic as well as a programme of the simple and visual
effects. Club President Graham Harper said "It was a stunning lecture
and members gleaned a valuable lesson in getting back to basics in magic
and keeping the effects and presentation as simple as possible. The
value of the evening and the information disclosed was proven by the
fact that 50% of the membership purchased this new, unique book on the
spot."

Illusions
Bar, Manchester. From the owners: From
Monday 2nd May 2011 Illusions Manchester will be no more. Unfortunately,
the lease of the premises has ceased with no option to renew. We have
had a great run up there and we wish to thank everyone who made it such
a roaring success. Especially all those who worked for us from 2010 till
2011. We are sad to have to close during such a boom season, but c’est
la vie! So what’s next then for Illusions? We have a few things up our
sleeves (no pun intended!) so stay tuned! Illusions Brighton is still on
the cards but we are again having lease issues - red tape! Thanks,
Illusions Magic Bar.

Behaviour
Patterns by Alan Chitty. Alan Chitty emails: Behaviour Patterns has
been very well received and there have been some very good suggestions
about how to adapt the trick to suit different situations and
personalities. I am particularly impressed by a presentational idea from
Daren Rotherham, and he is happy for me to share it with anyone else who
has bought Behaviour Patterns. His handling is so good that I wish I had
thought of it myself! If you have the trick and would like information
