Number 734 - 19th July 2014
Jim
Steinmeyer will be lecturing both during the Festival of Magic and at the
International Magic Convention in London, in November. Jim is responsible for
popular illusions featured by professional magicians around the world, and
special effects in theatrical shows from Broadway to Las Vegas. Through his
designs and his writing on historical magic, he's been credited with creating
the "defining illusions in contemporary magic", deceptions featured by Doug
Henning, David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, Harry Blackstone, Orson Welles, The
Pendragons, Lance Burton, Mark Kalin & Jinger and many others. But his work is
not only confined to illusions. He has created unique effects both for the stage
performer and close-up worker. His lectures truly are ones that have something
for everyone. His historical knowledge has been spotlighted both in his
presentations at The Magic History Conference in LA and in his books, including
Hiding The Elephant and Glorious Deception. The Convention will be
held from November 14th -16th at The Mermaid Conference Centre in central
London, and The Festival of Magic will be held from November 10th -14th at The
Bridewell Theatre just off Fleet Street in London. The Festival consists of
separately themed days where the stars of the Convention have a chance to speak
at more length and detail, on their particular niche subjects. This year the day
themes are:
Monday November 10th - Mentalism
Tuesday November 11th - Card Work
Wednesday November 12th - History Day
Thursday November 13th - Stage Magic and Performance
Friday November 14th - Bar Magic
Join International Stars of Magic at these great events. Speakers and performers
alongside Jim Steinmeyer include: Tom Mullica, Jonathan Pendragon, Doc Eason,
Bob Sheets, Jon Armstrong, Karl Hein, Morgan & West, and many many more. More

Mel will be joining us for the evening to perform the unique mix of
comedy and magic that has made him such a highly respected figure in the
world of magic. This evening is free to members and non members can come

Born at an early age, Mel quickly developed his trademark playful style, honed in clubs, theatres and tours.

services, currently, to date, he has performed for nearly every cruise

Masters Degree in Psychology. This has been put to good use, by

youngest winner of the Jack Delvin Trophy for magic to music. The 14 year old

as well as a version of the Miser's Dream, recently popularised by Teller. Other
