Mark Elsdon 10. “10″ is an entirely new kind of immersive live performance. Elsdon’s self-imposed restriction means that he performs 10 magic tricks in 10 minutes for just 10 people at a time. Oh, and he is only allowed to say 10 words per trick. These demands mean that there is no real audience, with all 10 viewers being fully involved in this exciting piece of participatory theatre, and all present contributing to the experience of shared wonder. So far, so ‘arty’, but is it entertaining? Well yes, of course! But that’s not really the point. Rather it is magic performed as a form of self-expression, one whose goals are beyond that of simple entertainment, and whose resonance is felt long after the performance is over. Part of the Edinburgh International Magic Festival. Event Details: Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th June at 12 noon and 5pm. Blocks of 10 shows starting every 15 minutes. Venue: Summerhall, meet at the Library Gallery. All tickets £5. Ages 13+. 27.6.15
