Master
of the Macabre. From the producers: The most terrifying magic show
you will ever see... Master of The Macabre. 7th October - 1st November.
Benedict Barber is a magician with a taste for the ghoulish and grisly.
In Master of the Macabre, he will take the audience on a dark
autobiographical journey – from his introduction to magic at the age of
just five through the trickery he employed at school to alarm his fellow
pupils and terrorize his teachers to a shocking experience as a young
adult that has shaped his life both on and off the stage. This fully
engrossing theatrical experience will leave you wide-eyed with
astonishment and bring you to the edge of your seat with fear. If you're
prepared to have your prejudices challenged, your assumptions
questioned, your beliefs shaken and your nerves shredded then this is
the show for you. Master of the Macabre is - quite simply - the most
terrifying magic show you will ever see... Warning - the show is only
suitable for ages 15 and up. The Vaults Theatre, Launcelot Street,
London SE1 7AD (Map).
Performed by Benedict Barber. Directed by Tony Middleton. Written by
Benedict Barber and Matthew Stradling. Additional Magic consultancy by
Chris Dugdale.
7th October - 1st November. To book visit

Cross: Straight Outta Newcastle. Newcastle's Chris Cross was gigging
in Ireland last week at DJ Yella's Gig Backstage. Yella was one of the
five members of NWA, alongside Superstars: Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E &
MC Ren. The current hit Movie ''Straight Outta Compton'' is all about
the five of them. Rather topical. He gave Newcastle's Favourite Magician
some Compton Love - From the Westside of California to the West End of
Newcastle! He loved Chris's tricks.

Paul
Rae awarded Jocky Scott Trophy for Entertainment by members of the
Aberdeen Magical Society. The trophy was presented by president
Garry Seagraves after a close competition on Tuesday, September 22nd. To
fight off tough competition from four other local magicians, Paul
performed a unique routine in which he predicted the outcome of a
superheroic battle to pick up the trophy, which is awarded for pure
entertainment value. Paul said: “I am almost speechless. I really never
expected to win. I have been playing about with this idea for a while as
I wanted to create something that was interactive and fun with lots of
laughs.”
The Jocky Scott Trophy for Entertainment, named after a popular former
member of the society, is one of three annual competitions held by
Aberdeen Magical Society, and was first awarded in 1985. Judged by a
panel of magicians and invited members of the public, the award is given
to the competitor who – simply – is the most entertaining. Aberdeen
Magical Society was founded in 1926, and is one of the most active
magical societies in the country. With a membership ranging from full
time professionals to amateur hobbyists, all those with a genuine
interest in magic are welcome to join. Providing a warm and welcoming
environment for magicians in the north east of Scotland, Aberdeen
Magical Society is dedicated to developing the art of magic. In 2016,
the society will celebrate its 90th anniversary. For more information,
