Museum acquire Tommy Cooper collection. "The collection, which includes his
'gag file' and magic tricks, will be displayed in the autumn. The V&A Museum has
acquired the largest collection of Tommy Cooper memorabilia, tracing the life
and legacy of the comedy legend. One of the centerpieces of the collection is
Cooper's 'gag file' - his system for meticulously storing jokes only a small
percentage of which he actually performed. It also includes documents relating
to the inner workings of his career, such as contracts which date back to 1946,
and some he was not able to fulfill following his sudden passing in 1984." To

Magikarma
Magic Blog. Paul Wingham writes: I have set up a magic blog called
www.magikarma.com with
the aim of giving away original ideas of my own and from contributors, without
any sort of cost. The blog is about 3 weeks old now and has been really well
received by over 1000 visitors. I'd like to: a) draw peoples attention to it and
b) to ask if any one would like to contribute an idea (with full credit). The
aim of the site is to give away magic, without any immediate personal gain (i.e.
not selling it and hence magi karma) but I would be happy to plug a new product
or site in exchange for a trick contribution. The only rule is the trick needs
to be original and use sleights that are in the public domain.

Chris
Cross's Castle Keep Escape Stunt - this Sunday in Newcastle.
Chris Cross the Magician will
attempt to escape from a straitjacket in just 90 seconds, whilst
suspended upside down by his ankles, 80ft high in the sky, from the
rooftop of the iconic Newcastle Castle Keep. The most famous
Escapologist ever to have lived, Harry Houdini, visited the Keep when he
performed in Newcastle and he did a few press stunts up there to promote
his show whilst in the region. Chris Cross will replicate one of
Houdini's most famous escapology stunts as a tribute to Houdini and to
promote his own upcoming variety show, ''The Greatest Show on the Tyne''
at the Tyne Theatre, days later on 2nd September. If Cross fails, death
is almost certain. Let's hope for a successful stunt. The Daredevil
Performance can be seen for free from the Quayside, the Baltic viewing
point and from the bridges. It's a public entertainment piece that can
be seen by all of Newcastle for free! For more
