Morgan
& West Lecture - Cotswold Magical Society. Peter Kidd writes: On Wednesday 3rd May at 7.30pm, the Cotswold Magical Society is pleased to
welcome Mr Morgan and Mr West to The Hucclecote Community Centre. Magicians,
time-travellers and all-round spiffing chaps, Mr Rhys Morgan and Mr Robert West
present a lecture in two parts. Coding in the Pub teaches quick, easy, practical
and very fooling tricks for use out and about (and on stage if you so wish)
utilising two people. Even though most performers don't have a performing
partner, the lecture goes down extremely well, giving people ideas to take and
do in the real world. The lecture also covers other mentalism tricks, both for
two-person and solo performers.
This is followed by a discussion about character. Morgan & West is a character
act and always has been. Rhys and Rob talk extensively about how to create an
authentic character which connects with an audience. This is somewhat different
from the usual lecture fare and promises to be a very interesting topic for
discussion.
All welcome. £10 on the door to non-members. The Cotswold Magical Society, Thee
Hucclecote Community Centre, Hucclecote Road, Gloucester GL3 3RT (Map).

Thom
Peterson lectures for The Surrey Society of Magicians on Thursday 27th April.
Adam Mosley writes: Thom Peterson's funny, interactive lecture has been a hit
everywhere he's been. Thom has lectured in England, France, Belgium, Italy,
Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Israel, and
the USA. The things Thom lectures on are real-world, tried and tested routines
that he uses every day. No "pie-in-the-sky" tricks that only work on YouTube!
Thom teaches routines that are easy for all abilities, yet professional in their
method and routining. The often heard comment after one of Thom's lectures is,
"He obviously works using this stuff." “Now here is a guy that works! Funny
and quick-witted, he presented workable material that is easy to perform and has
been fine-tuned through thousands of performances. What more could you ask for?”
Doc Eason. Members are free and visiting magicians are welcome for a £10
entrance fee. The lecture takes place in East Horsley, Surrey at 8pm. For full
