Magic
Teacher Schools Penn & Teller! Last week Jeff McBride joined the few who
have actually managed to fool Penn & Teller on their current series of 'Fool Us'
in the States. Master magic teacher Jeff McBride told the pair that, "Magic is
not always a puzzle to be solved, but sometimes a mystery to be experienced."
McBride proceeded to fool them completely with one of his signature pieces,
known as 'Rainmaker', which conveys the story of a mysterious unseen force that
causes two metal bowls to fill and refill with seemingly endless amounts of
water.
McBride is a teacher of the art of magic and has been wowing Las Vegas audiences
since he first appeared at Caesar’s Palace with Diana Ross back in the '80s. He
became one of Las Vegas’ youngest stars when he headlined Le Bal de Moulin
Rouge Revue at The Las Vegas Hilton when he was only 25. McBride headlined
Caesars Magical Empire, and for the past 9 years has hosted his own magic
nightclub, Jeff McBride’s Wonderland in Las Vegas. Most recently, McBride has
returned from a two month, 5 city tour of China with his Las Vegas Magic Stars
show, conceived and produced in concert with illusionist Greg Gleason. The show
is scheduled to return to touring early in 2018.
What’s next for McBride? "At this point, I’m focusing mostly on our magic school
and bringing quality magic to audiences who wouldn’t otherwise see it. I’ve been
strongly inspired by my late teacher (and Dean of our School for 26 years),
Eugene Burger. Eugene said, 'The enchantments of magic point beyond mere
illusion to the Great Mystery of Life, the eternal transformation of life, death
and rebirth.'" Learn more about Jeff McBride at

Atlas
Brookings Lecture - International Magic, London, Tuesday 12th September.
From the organisers: Meet
Atlas Brookings... Coming to magic comparatively late in his life, Atlas has a
unique approach to mentalism that isn't grounded in traditional pencil, paper
and envelope approaches. Indeed, much of the compelling material he will present
simply involves looking into a participant's eyes and telling them their
thoughts - feats which can be accomplished consistently and which are built on
real and reliable methodologies.
Join Atlas as he examines and discusses his numerous distinctive and ground
breaking mentalism techniques that are shaping the path of mentalism as it moves
into the 21st century. He won't just present these techniques; he'll discuss the
optimal presentational framework, when they are best used and the most impactful
way to present the material. He'll also teach you some compelling sleight-free
mind reading effects using playing cards. You'll memorize a thoroughly mixed
deck of cards, with perfect recall, in less than 20 minutes! Atlas is a full
time entertainer and has consulted for performers across the industry, including
stars like David Blaine.
Tuesday 12th September 2017 at 7.30pm. Price is
£15.00 per person, payable at the door, but please email
martin@internationalmagic.com
or call to reserve your place. Venue: 2nd Floor of Casa Italiana, 136 Clerkenwell Road,
London EC1R 5DL (Map).

landscape for the mind reader. Opens doors previously sealed tightly shut.
Watch, listen and learn." Luke Jermay.

New
from Mark Leveridge Magic. This month Mark has added another Premier
E-Routine to his range with the release of Perfect Intuition. Designed for
performance at large tables or for use in parlour or cabaret shows, this
baffling routine uses just a pile of regular envelopes with blank pieces of card
inside and yet creates a strong effect in which a spectator appears to achieve
the impossible. The plot is as follows. A spectator selects any person in the
audience and writes their name on a piece of card which she then slips into an
envelope. Five further envelopes simply containing blank pieces of card are
added to this first envelope and the spectator mixes all six of them up so that
no one could know which envelope contains the card bearing the name. The
assisting spectator than designates envelopes to be handed to six spectators, at
some point of her choosing electing the named person to be handed an envelope.
Despite the randomness of this procedure, she somehow manages to give the named
spectator the envelope containing the card with her name on it! Straightforward
to do this comes as downloadable PDF instructions which include a link to
further online video explanations. For more details and to order go to
www.markleveridge.co.uk/pi.php.
