It's magic for Berglas. Cape Times ran a story on David Berglas' MBE, and David's connection with Cape Town's only magical arts organisation, the College of Magic, a non-profit organisation that reported how thrilled they were on hearing David Berglas' news: "David's generous philanthropic support has seen the creation of many training facilities benefiting thousands of students and tens of thousands of school learners who have attended the College of Magic over the past 39 years. His inspiration, encouragement and recognition have played a pivotal role in building our organisation internationally and from within, strengthening our important transformative role among the youth of South Africa." High Jinx Magic, Illusion & Circus Show, Blackpool. Michael Jordan is pleased to announce he will be returning to Viva Blackpool for his 8th consecutive season with his High Jinx Magic, Illusion & Circus Show. The Barely Methodical Troupe on Talking Tricks. Kane & Abel write: This week on Talking Tricks, we are joined by contemporary circus company The Barely Methodical Troupe to discuss their show Shift which opens the London International Mime Festival this week. BMT co-founders Charlie Wheeler and Louis Gift, along with fellow cast members Esmeralda Nikolajeff and Elihu Vazquez, discuss their roles in the show, what led to them starting the troupe/joining the troupe, why collaboration is key in contemporary circus and the narrative and themes of their performances and why they are always open to audience interpretation. Chris Wood lectures for The Surrey Society of Magicians on Thursday, 17th January. Adam Mosley writes: With over 40 lectures to his credit including an "At the Table" for Murphy's Magic, Chris is an accomplished performer who runs The Magic Circle Close-Up shows and is known for his insight and attention to detail when improving effects. Recent talks at The Magic Circle have focused on topics such as scripting, an exemplar on physical misdirection, impromptu card magic and a masterclass workshop on clarity, rhythm and pace. His lectures similarly cover in depth the why as well as the how behind some of the routines from his working repertoire. This will be his second lecture at The Surrey Society of Magicians.
