AEG present Darcy Oake on Thursday 31st October at the Leicester Square Theatre, London. From the promoters: It began with an innocent card trick. At the age of 7, Darcy Oake’s father, award-winning sports broadcaster Scott Oake, asked his son to pick a card from a deck, remember it and put it back in the deck. His father drew that card, astonishing his young son and forever changing his life’s path. Darcy has wowed audiences in Hollywood, Las Vegas, New York, Europe and Asia, including an appearance before 200 million viewers on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, and performing for Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday celebration where he performed before the Royal Family at a private dinner. As a performance artist and modern interpreter of the art of illusion, Darcy transports audiences with his charm, his sleight of hand and logic-defying illusions. He has taken the rich heritage of the magic culture and put a fresh, young and modern twist on the profession. Book via: www.ticketsolve.com. 21.9.19

Champions of Magic announce release of Concert Album. The producers behind the internationally touring illusion show Champions of Magic have announced the upcoming release of a live concert album of the production in a world-first for the genre. The show's director of research and development, Al Tostig, said "We’ve spent the last 2 years diving deep into magic history to find brand new things to bring to the world of illusions both on-stage and off. It suddenly hit us that despite the fact live albums have been popular in music for a long time, and had a heyday in stand-up comedy, no magicians have released an album of their live show. We didn’t think about it for a moment longer and decided Champions of Magic should be the first. Unfortunately due to licensing restrictions, the music we use in the show alongside the illusions can’t be re-produced on the album, so the recording is mostly patter, props moving and some crowd noise. The whole thing is a really immersive way to enjoy magic, that’s often overlooked by those more caught up in the visuals". The album will be available for pre-order shortly at www.championsofmagic.co.uk. Champions of Magic, one of the world’s largest illusion shows, tours theatres and arenas across the USA and Canada until May 2020, tickets: www.championsofmagic.co.uk. 21.9.19

South London Magic Society retain the Trophy. Simon Rosselli writes: On Wednesday night South London Magic Society held their interclub competition with Bexley Magic Society featuring nine categories of magic: Rope, Coins, Cards, Mentalism, Children’s, Classics, Silks, Die/Rubik's and President's Choice. 18 Magicians each representing their club in one category competed. South London Magic Society took an early 2 – 0 lead, but were pegged back by Bexley who took the lead going into the interval 2 – 4. South London came back strong after the break with three straight wins and ended up winning 5 – 4. A fun evening with about 60 in total who shared Pizza together in the interval. Many thanks to all those that came and supported, especially to the Judges and Chris Wood for being the Magical Judge.
