Matthew Wright's Online Show and Lecture 'Web of Secrets'. Matthew Wright writes: I have transformed my theatre show 'Chamber of Secrets' into an online show called the 'Web of Secrets'. I am now offering the public show plus a lecture to magic clubs and am thrilled to announce that I am now taking bookings for The Web of Secrets Online Show and Lecture.

The Web of Secrets show is an online variation of the Chamber of Secrets theatre show that I have owned and run on the Costa Del Sol for the past 6 years. The theatre show quickly rose to the Trip Advisor number one attraction for the Costa Del Sol and Malaga region and was last year shortlisted into the top ten attractions for the whole of Spain, Balearics and Canaries. I have now transformed this amazing show into an enthralling virtual online experience for all to enjoy.

The 45 minute show forms the first half of your magic club bundle and is available for anyone to watch... friends, family or just fans of magic in the general public. The second half of the show is a private, magicians only lecture where we go through many of the effects in the show. We talk not only about the effects but also touch on how they have been adapted to work for an online audience. For those interested in performing online there is a quick behind the scenes tour of my set up where I will answer any questions you may have. The tricks performed and taught are all my own creations and cover all areas of magic including close-up, parlour, stage, mentalism and comedy. They are all solid workers that have been road tested many hundreds of times... they are real world workers. See www.fb.me/webofsecrets and www.chamberofsecrets.eu/web-of-secrets for more info. 23.5.20

Poker Player's Nightmare (Improved) - International Magic. This great little card trick has one of the most instant and visual changes you'll ever see. Two sets of 5 cards (one red backed, the other blue) are placed on the table. A coin is tossed and according to how it lands, the spectator is given one set, the magician the other. However, when both sets are shown, the magician has five random cards whereas the spectator has a 'Full House'. The magician clearly shows all five cards individually back and front - then, in an instant, without any false moves, the magician's cards change into a 'Royal Flush'. All cards are again cleanly and fully shown individually on both sides. No sleight of hand, all cards are shown back and front as both a losing and then a winning hand. The change is instant and extremely magical. What's more, this is re-set ready to go again the moment you finish your performance! See www.internationalmagic.com. 23.5.20

Strong Man by Jimmy Strange - Zane's Magic Shop. This the latest brainchild of Jimmy Strange. Strongman is a new method for visually bending metal that is easy to do and super practical! Metal bending is always best when it happens visually and slowly, it is undeniable. Still to this day, metal bending is one of the strongest most believable pieces of magic you can perform. There is something mesmerizing about watching cold hard steel bend and warp. It cannot be explained as sleight of hand or misdirection, it is more likely to be described as mind over matter or a supernatural phenomenon... No set-up, no switches. Jon Gordon. Franklin writes: I just heard the sad news of the passing of Jon Gordon, I just don’t know what to say. Jon was such a good friend and I’ll greatly miss him so very, very much especially as we both shared the same love for performing mentalism. We were both on the committee of the Leeds Magical Association as it was then and Jon worked with great love in organizing the conventions.

Jon’s interest in magic sparked when an uncle of his gave him a Geoffrey Robinson Conjuring Set for Christmas in 1952 when he was eight years old. It was on a trip to the Unique Magic Studio in Brewer Street, London for a Unique Day organized by Harry Stanley in 1958 when the Magic bug actually bit. Away from magic Jon had a thriving public relations marketing business in Chapel Allerton, Leeds where we had many committee meetings for the L.M.A.

As well as Jon’s number one interest in mentalism he was also a children’s entertainer and enjoyed performing close-up magic. Unfortunately in the last few years Jon has been off the magic scene as he had many health problems and found great difficulty in walking. In the latter years when Jon had difficulty getting about I use to have great pleasure taking him up to the South Tyneside Magic convention which he greatly enjoyed.

Jon leaves behind his wife Judy and three daughters. May Jon’s dear soul rest in peace.
