Spot the Difference - Mark Leveridge Magic. Mark writes: ‘Find The Lady’ and ‘The Irish Three Card Trick With Four Cards’ have long been favourites with magicians, but I have to admit that I have always felt they suffer from too much repetition and a lack of a real punch finish. Also, there is no emotional hook in the presentations, no reason for the audience to feel involved or interested in the outcome, and as a result I am fairly sure that some spectators just switch off as the magician proceeds to go through endless minor variations on the same theme.

Spot the Difference seeks to put right the weaknesses of those other effects. Firstly, instead of the presentation being just a monologue about some supposed occasion when the magician saw a con game being played out, the audience are actively involved in making decisions, decisions which appear to give them the chance to win some money! Secondly, the money on offer does not belong to the performer, but to one of the spectators! The magician is therefore trying to retain the money for the spectator, not for himself. I feel this is better psychology and keeps interest alive. Thirdly, one of the elements of the presentation actually gets all the audience involved in making certain sounds, an activity which causes much amusement. And finally, the trick ends in a totally unexpected and magical fashion to bring it to a strong conclusion. Watch a performance and find out more from www.markleveridge.co.uk

Mark Leveridge's Free-Buys. Week 9. This week's free gift is a fabulously strong card routine called Impossible. A card is genuinely freely selected from a blue backed deck by a spectator (e.g. 3D) and the performer chooses one from a red backed deck (e.g. AS). The two cards are cut back into their respective packs which are then boxed. The performer claims the two selections will turn face up in their respective decks while still in the boxes. However, what actually happens is that the spectator's 3D is shown to be reversed in the performer's red backed deck, and the AS is found reversed in the spectator's blue backed deck. The cards have physically changed places while the decks were in the boxes! Both packs can immediately be examined to prove there are no duplicates or special cards. Place any order with MLM this week and you will be sent an email that allows you to download for free the Premier E-Routine PDF instructions for Impossible, these having a link to further online video directions. This exclusive Free-Buy offer expires at midnight on Friday 19th June 2020. For more information go to www.markleveridge.co.uk13.6.20
