Peter Wardell Talking Shtick with Mark James. Mark writes: From the streets of Covent Garden to being a headline act for corporate clients and performing on some of the most exclusive cruise ships in the world... This is a fascinating no holds barred chat with one of my favourite performers. Peter has taken a step back from the magic world to pursue corporate and cruise work. His act is sharp, hilarious and packed with great magic. Peter shoots from the hip and calls things as he sees them. I've always enjoyed his approach to magic and his approach to work in general is something to be admired. Via your favourite listening platform including Podbean. 28.11.20

instaCAAN by Joel Dickenson - Merlins. After placing a prediction card face-down, you introduce a deck of cards and a participant or two decide on a number between one and fifty-two. The cards are freely counted down to your spectators decided number, arriving at one card. Amazingly their selection matches your prediction. The effect doesn't stop there, you have now set up your audience for the unexpected finale. You spread the deck of cards face up, revealing every card is completely blank. Leaving your audiences astounded. And not only that, everything is examinable! Find out more, watch the video: www.merlinswakefield.co.uk. 28.11.20

The Ulster Society of Magicians open Zoom meeting. James Hobart writes: The Ulster Society of Magicians are inviting guests to their next Zoom meeting on Monday 7th December which will be a lecture from member, multi prizewinner and international performer Nikola Arkane. The lecture will be free to Honorary and Paid Up Members of The Ulster Society of Magicians. For anyone else there will be a token charge of £5 payable by PayPal (Email Secretary, see www.online-usm.com/contact-us for PayPal payment details). Now over to Nikola: What does it take to survive a pandemic as a magician? The ability to never give up! This was the goal that propelled me to build my very own professional studio theatre in my tiny bedroom in Belfast. Since March I have created 18 brand new characters and themed magic shows for children, become a regular close-up performer with Chicago Magic Lounge, was invited to perform for Washington Magic Club and twice for the members of the Magic Castle. Not bad for being confined to four walls. However this was not an easy journey.

In this lecture I will share with you all that I have learnt performing virtually for both kids and adults. I will break down my setup, positives and negatives. Lighting, sound and cables worth stocking up on. I will discuss the mediums I have used most which are Zoom and Facebook live. And perhaps a little on recording and editing. If you would like to watch a little of what I have created so far, here is a trailer I created for a TED talk I did this Summer titled my Pandemic to Freedom! I hope you enjoy and I shall see you all at the meeting! https://vimeo.com/462493866.

Cardiac Arrest - Mr E Enterprises. "Three spectators each select a playing card from a freely shown and shuffled deck. Two of these cards are revealed by your naming colours, suits and numbers out loud as you are checking the pulses of the spectators that selected them. However, you have a problem with the pulse of the third person, so you take out a comedy doctor’s stethoscope and hold it against his heart and correctly name his card! Use any deck, even a borrowed one, the cards are freely chosen (no force). This hilarious routine was used by Eddie successfully in his professional act for over fifty years. Comes with comedy stethoscope (approx 20" long) and instructions. Use your own playing cards." From www.mreenterprises.co.uk. 28.11.20
