Champions of Magic to play London Eventim Apollo on April 3rd 2022, as part of Worldwide Wonders Tour. From the promoter: Champions of Magic returns to the UK in 2022 for a short tour, before heading to Europe to perform in some countries you’ve only heard about through war journalism. So see them while you still can. They genuinely might not come back.

But let’s be honest, this isn’t ‘In & Of Itself’. You don’t get to feel clever for watching our show. And we’re not going to try and sell to MagicWeek readers using a series of adverbs and adjectives about a group of performers whom you’re either friends with on Facebook, or have at least seen drunk at the Ruskin. So what’s in it for you as a professional magician? Allow us to walk you through it...

• If you love brushed-aluminium props, black art, or the impeccable design work of Tim Clothier then do we have a show for you. We’ve got a truckload of it. Literally.

• You’ll gasp at the world’s most dangerous performance of the Jaws of Death! (The prop is the same as all the others but the tech who suspends it is entirely unqualified).
• You’ll be shocked by how much a Sven deck goes for at the merch stand.
• You’ll enjoy close-up magic performed on the big screen – join other magicians for the Elmsley count-along!
• You’ll feel like a meteorologist when you can see the Snowstorm coming about 4 minutes before it happens.
• One night the roller in the Dreamvision prop WILL fail. This could be it and you’ll want to be there when it does! Let’s find out together if we have an ‘out’ for that. (Spoiler alert: nope).
• Hang around for the Meet & Greet in the lobby after the show – the cast love unsolicited notes.

Tickets start from just £25. That’s three quid cheaper than Criss Angel’s Penguin lecture. Or use some of those sweet, sweet Zoom Show profits, and treat yourself to a front row seat at £55. That way we’ll even hear you when you tell your date ‘I know how they did that’. Here’s the tour info. Bring family, bring friends, don’t bring a deck. We promise you a fun night out:

A breath of fresh life for the traditional Chameleon/Gag Bag effect married with the internationally famous children’s song "Old MacDonald Had a Farm". Announcing the First Annual Inclusivity and Diversity in Magic Conference. From the organisers: The first annual Inclusivity and Diversity in Magic Conference will be held via Zoom in the States from August 27th - 29th 2021, from 3pm-6pm Pacific, 6pm-9 pm Eastern. This year’s theme is history with a special focus on women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, and magicians living with disabilities. The inaugural event is presented by the McBride Magic & Mystery School.

This year’s conference leadership team consists of well-known magicians Benjamin Barnes, Christian Cagigal, Simon Carmel, Steve Longacre, Cody Clark, Paul Draper, Kayla Drescher, Felice Ling, and Dyna Brenda Staats. Together they bring extraordinary talent, decades of performance experience, numerous awards, and a heart for advocacy.

Mystery School senior faculty member Paul Draper will be available to facilitate and support a safe space that offers a platform highlighting voices that need to be heard. Draper is known for his internationally acclaimed, award-winning show, "Mysteries of the Mind", that breaks the laws of physics and defies the rules of reality.

For over 30 years, the McBride Magic & Mystery School has educated magicians from all around the world. The faculty of master teachers are the best in the business. The BBC described the school as the "World’s most prestigious school for magicians". "This conference is working to bring groups together to hear from each other and to show the diversity and inclusivity of representation in magic. A place where we can all gather to learn from each other, hear different perspectives, and grow," Draper said. "We must seek every opportunity to amplify the voices of those who have been historically excluded, marginalized, and underrepresented. The goal is equity and the inclusion of diverse voices and perspectives." For more information, visit www.magicalwisdom.com. 17.7.21

For Sale: ChildrensPartyShows.co.uk - website directory business. ChildrensPartyShows.co.uk, The UK Directory of Children's Entertainers, which I've run since its launch back in 2004 is for sale - see www.childrenspartyshows.co.uk. The site needs a complete new design to make it mobile-friendly and would suit an enterprising magician with web design skills who is looking for a sideline business. Entertainers advertising on the site pay an annual fee of £60 to be listed under 5 counties (+£10 for each additional county), but since March 2020 I stopped invoicing for renewals as it would have made no sense. I left all the advertisers on the site for free, but recently emailed them to advise them that I would no longer be running the directory.

Now, as official government restrictions are starting to lift, it seems right to "get things going" again. The new owner would be buying the domain name childrenspartyshows.co.uk, which would be transferred, 17 years of goodwill and reputation, and the current website "as is" (minus the web form section which would be removed). The contact details would be updated by me to those of the new owner, but no other changes will be made. No technical support would be offered. The new owner would treat the old site as a "holding page", and be expected to produce a new mobile-friendly version.

The new owner would need to redesign the website as soon as possible. They would need to contact the current advertisers (via their listings on the website) to see if they'd like to start advertising afresh. (Note: Two of the listings on the website are complimentary, and two advertisers email addresses failed when I recently emailed all the advertisers). It is hard to estimate how many entertainers currently on the website would renew. Maybe none, maybe just a handful, maybe most, but a lot has changed in the last 16 months. It would be up to the new owner to build the business for themselves. There really is huge potential here. Web design is no longer "my thing", hence the sale. Interested parties should email me, Duncan Trillo, in the first instance, via the MagicWeek email address. 17.7.21
