Curious Tales & Unusual Phenomena. Illusionist Chris North launches his new Victorian show which is the fourth in a series that was only intended to be a trilogy! The demand for this kind of strange phenomena interwoven with tales of the unexplained warranted further investigation! This unique parlour show continues the ever popular theme, all presented in a charming Victorian setting. There are two options, a full theatre show of 2 x 45 minute spots or a 60 minute presentation. Magic clubs and societies can book the 60 minute presentation with a Q&A session to follow, a great alternative to a lecture for those looking for something different (the show is totally self-contained).

Future theatres include: The Fisher Theatre, Bungay, Suffolk on Saturday 11th September www.fishertheatre.org and The Seagull Theatre, Lowestoft, Suffolk on Saturday 23rd October www.theseagull.co.uk. All enquiries: chrisnorth@live.com also see YouTube.

'Hook Your Audience', Paul McCrory - open access opportunity for new book for educational performers. How do you present when nobody has to listen to you? Hook Your Audience (volume 1) is a toolkit of performance techniques to emotionally engage child and family audiences in interactive, educational presentations, e.g. character; liveness; expressing emotions; all-audience interaction; questions; volunteers; and humour. Many of the engagement hooks are borrowed from performers such as magicians, stand-ups, buskers and actors. For example, how to use the "spontaneity spectrum" to deliver scripted, interactive presentations - www.hooktraining.com/spontaneity. Because of the severe impact of the pandemic on our sectors, I decided to also make the book available open access online until the end of October 2021. If you think it's relevant, I would be extremely grateful if you could share this opportunity with your networks. You can find links to the open access book and supporting resources at www.hookyouraudiencebook.com. 31.7.21

Castle Magic is one of the leading dealers in pre-owned and second-hand magic apparatus and books, often handling antique and vintage apparatus from around the world. Based in Great Britain, where a considerable amount of vintage magic equipment started life, we supply and ship items worldwide. We also purchase and exchange magic props, books and allied arts apparatus from individual items to complete acts. During 1997 we launched our Castle Premier Range of exclusive magic tricks for children and close-up entertainers.

During 2011 Castle Magical Services acquired the business and rights of the Bradford Magic Studio – a company set up and operated by Cliff Lount since 1949, making Bradford Magic Studios the 2nd oldest established magic company in the UK still trading. We will be remaking and supplying a number of its classic magic effects in the near future. We are also proud to announce that Workshop Thirteen, which produces Escapology and Bizarre Magic, will now also be part of the Castle Magic family. www.castlemagicalservices.co.uk.
