Richard
Jones Escape - October Tour.
From the promoters: Richard Jones was the winner of Britain’s Got Talent and is
a British Army soldier as well as one of the world’s greatest magicians in The
Inner Magic Circle. Having recently had audiences on Britain’s Got Talent:
The Champions completely captivated, Richard is extending his sell-out tour
of the UK earlier this year.
Therefore due to popularity, new dates in 2021 have been announced where the
mesmerising Lance Corporal will confirm exactly what made him the stand out act
to win Britain’s top talent show in 2016... And still the only magician to have
won the show.
After gasps of emotion shown on the ITV1 programme, much of the audience were
reduced to tears when Richard paid tribute to his veteran mentor, Fergus Anckorn
– a fellow magician who died in 2018 before his 100th birthday. On his extended
tour of Escape, Richard endeavours to break the boundaries of the mind with his
‘magic with meaning’, debuting a further twist on some of his newest,
awe-inspiring magic.
In heart-warming memory of Fergus, he will be recreating some of his dear
friend’s most incredible tricks too – some of which the legendary soldier only
ever taught Richard himself. And let’s not forget what Simon Cowell said... 'You
Sir – are a wizard. That has to be magic.'"

Lost
in the Shuffle. A feature documentary by Animal Mother Films. Lost
in the Shuffle is a brand new, feature length documentary that pays
homage to the age-old relationship between magicians and playing cards,
using psychology, history, math and art to explore how they’ve become
the most prolific prop in the field. With appearances from top magicians
Alexandra Duvivier, Michael Vincent, Richard Turner and Juan Tamariz,
the film focuses on a theory from two-time world champion Shawn Farquhar
that hidden for centuries in the art of the court cards are the clues to
the cold case murder of an actual French king in 1498.
On October 19th we’re launching a crowdfunding campaign to help bring
our film to life and we’ve amassed a pretty awesome array of perks to
show appreciation to our backers, including an exclusive deck of cards
being designed by Shawn himself and a VIP experience at the Magic
Castle. Please head to
www.lostintheshufflefilm.com today to watch the trailer and on
October 19th follow the same link to get to our Kickstarter page.

The Century of Deception: Ian Keable and Brian Sibley in Conversation.
Tuesday 19th October at 6.30pm at Waterstones, Gower Street, London.
Join us for an evening with Ian Keable, Magician and author of 'The Century of
Deception: The Birth of the Hoax in Eighteenth Century England', as he details
some of the most bamboozling hoaxes of the 18th Century – a woman who birthed
rabbits, someone climbing into a bottle in front of a live audience, curious
astrological predictions and more hoaxes of intrigue. Ian will be in
conversation with the writer, journalist and broadcaster Brian Sibley.
In The Century of Deception, magician and historian Ian Keable tells the
engrossing stories of these eighteenth-century hoaxes and those who were duped
by them. The English public were hoodwinked time and time again, swallowing
whole tales of rapping ghosts, a woman who gave birth to rabbits, a levitating
Frenchman in a Chinese Temple and outrageous astrological predictions. Not only
were the hoaxes widely influential, drawing in celebrities such as Samuel
Johnson, Benjamin Franklin and Jonathan Swift, they also inflamed concerns about
‛English credulity’.
Ian Keable obtained a first-class degree from the University of Oxford in
Philosophy, Politics and Economics, qualified as a chartered accountant and then
became a professional magician. A member of The Magic Circle with gold star, he
has won several awards for his unique brand of comedy magic. Brian Sibley is a
writer, journalist and broadcaster and, for many years, arts presenter for BBC
Radio 4 and the World Service; he is also the author of plays and notable,
award-winning dramatisations as well as presenting numerous documentaries for
BBC’s Radios 2, 3 and 4. For more information and to book a ticket visit

The
Great Kovari at The Mystic Ring. George Hills writes:
At the meeting of The Mystic Ring on September 22nd the members were
totally enthralled. The reason being that we were fortunate to have a
presentation by our president George Kovari (The Great Kovari).
The presentation gave an insight into George's introduction to magic in
Hungary and arrival in England. Anecdotes throughout his magic career
were illustrated with video clips of two of his mentors: Rodolfo and Paul
Potassy. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thank you George.
