Number 1112 - Saturday 16th October 2021

Jonathan Goodwin, Britain's foremost daredevil escapologist, rushed into hospital on Thursday following a stunt that went terribly wrong. Described as a modern-day superhero, somewhere between Houdini and Superman, Goodwin has constantly challenged himself in a never-ending series of death defying stunts. Just last year viewers were stunned by his performances on America's Got Talent 2020, see MagicWeek 1049 (1st August 20200) and number 1056 (19th September 2020) for videos. His latest stunt was in rehearsals for the upcoming show America's Got Talent: Extreme.

David Alnwick's Nightmare Magic - London Horror Festival 28th & 29th October. A Ghost Story told using Magic. Writer and Magician David Alnwick brings his Sold-Out Edinburgh Fringe hit show to London Horror Festival on 28th & 29th October at 8.30pm at the Pleasance, London. When Rob Blake discovers a coded journal in his late uncle's attic, he enlists his oldest friend David to help decipher its secrets. Join David, as he demonstrates their terrifying discoveries to the world.

Magicians Only Note: Hey MagicWeek reader, this is a part play/part magic performance. It isn't a series of tricks where the 'this bowl of rice represents the universe' or 'this signed playing card represents your soul', in fact, there's no magic by analogy. It's more akin to a series of experiments and demonstrations of cursed/curious objects, each with a haunted history. While I'm the only performer on stage, I'm not the only voice in the show, and there's an overarching narrative connecting it all together. I'm proud of it, and if you're a fan of Lovecraftian horror and magic then I think you'll like it. Check out the ticket link below and don't hesitate to get in touch via the website to find out more.

"Among the most enjoyable, and almost certainly the most spontaneously funny magician's on the Fringe." ★★★★ Broadway Baby. Tickets: www.pleasance.co.uk. Also see www.londonhorrorfestival.co.uk and www.nightmaremagic.com.

We would like to thank the audience members, Geoff Pescud the compère, the two lay judges, and our magical judge Jamie Raven for their hard task in choosing the top three acts. E-Club Pro Select New Releases. The two routines extracted from the E-Club Pro vaults that have been added to the Select range in October are: 1. Amazon Predictor. An Amazon book box is displayed and inside, it is claimed, is a book which Amazon has decided – in advance! – that a spectator is going to order! Seven large cards, each depicting a different book title, are mixed and a spectator is invited to select any number from one to seven and this will be used to eliminate book titles until just one remains. Once the elimination process is complete, the final book selection is revealed. Incredibly, when the book box is opened that is indeed the very book that is packaged inside. Very easy to do, this is perfect for parlour or stage shows. 2. Ribbon Spread Reverse. A freely chosen and signed card is shuffled back into a deck which is then ribbon spread face down across the table. The magician claims that he will now make the selection magically reveal itself. Flipping the spread deck face up, instantly one card in the centre is now seen to be reversed and still be face down. On removing it the reversed card is seen to be the signed selection. This requires a one-time preparation of a single card, but it is easy to perform. The selection is genuinely free and there is no real re-set. Both these video downloads cost just £7.00. To watch dems and to order go to www.markleveridge.co.uk. 16.10.21
