Magazine Indices. Over the lockdown Michael Colley has been working hard
expanding the range of his Indices to old magic magazines. Now offered to
magicians, the new indices are available as Microsoft Access files with Search
facility and Excel spreadsheets. Some are available as PDF documents, but this
is not possible for the larger indices.
New indices are to:
Club 71/The Magician – Geoff Maltby.
Goodliffe’s Magic Monthly – Goodliffe.
Magic Magazine – Max Andrews.
Mind & Magic – Ted Lesley.
The Wizard – George Armstrong.
The Demon Telegraph – Davenports.
Indices previously issued, but now with some additions, are for Abracadabra, Gen
and Magigram. These are available as custom-made search files, and can also be
supplied as Access databases. Abra and Magigram are not available as PDF files,
because of their size (Abra has 30,519 entries for articles plus 10,951 for
photographs). The indices to Gen, Magic Magazine and Demon Telegraph also have
listings of the effects advertised. For further details of exact content,
formats and prices please email Michael:

The
Secret Wish. A Royal Tarot Mystery. Mr E Enterprises write: The widespread
use of tarot cards for divination only took off in the late 1700s, when
Frenchman Jean-Baptise Alliette published the first definitive guide to tarot
card reading. Adhering to the revelation of sacred scripture the Church over the
centuries has judged fortune telling including tarot cards as sinful. Queen Ann
ordered that all tarot cards should be cut into halves for them to lose their
wicked powers. However not to be outdone Italian gypsies used the half-cards to
give readings and help people to overcome their problems.... Find out all about

Perth
Magic Circle Winner! Adrian Harris writes: Congratulations to Gus McGregor
who recently won the Rodger Caseby Memorial Cup for best Magic Act which is
competed for annually by members of the Perth and St. Andrews Magic Circles and
also the Dundee Society of Magicians. Because of Covid, the competition had to
be cancelled last year so it was good for the three clubs to be able to meet up
once again. The Dundee club hosted this year's competition in their
headquarters, the Logie Club, which attracted 10 entrants who performed every
genre of magic which saw no repetition of effects which has happened in the
past. Perth Magic Circle will host the competition next year.
