Laura
London Lecture - Surrey Society of Magicians, Thursday 6th October. Adam
Mosley writes: Laura London has exceptional card skills and is recognised as one
of the world's few female sleight of hand artists. She wrote and devised her own
show, Laura London: Cheat, which was highly regarded by the Edinburgh Fringe.
The story was set in the 1920s based on a female cardsharp who made her living
cheating at poker. Laura's one of a kind skills and stage presence brought the
show to life.
Laura's passion for magic spiralled from the age of ten when she was given her
first magic trick from a family friend and by the age of eighteen Laura became
the youngest ever female member of The Magic Circle. Laura's magic started with
just close-up magic while she continued experimenting with mind reading and
illusions. Only six months into being a professional magician Laura had already
appeared in a ten-part street magic series called Playing Tricks. Laura
continued to appear on television shows from Children in Need, The
Magic Party for BBC NI, Penn and Teller's 'Fool Us' and ITV1's The
Next Great Magician.
Members are free and visiting magicians are welcome for a £10 entrance fee. The
lecture takes place in East Horsley, Surrey, at 8pm. For full details please
contact Adam Mosley: addmoses@hotmail.com.

Lee
Hathaway Lecture - The Wolverhampton Circle of Magicians, Wednesday 5th October.
Sue Oakley writes: On Wednesday 5th October, The Wolverhampton Circle of
Magicians, will be hosting a lecture from Lee Hathaway. Lecture starts at 8pm at
the ECC Sports & Social Club, Showell Road, Wolverhampton WV10 9LE. Visiting
magicians are welcome for just £5.00 (on the night). Lee has over 25 years
performing experience, and is a member of The Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star.
In addition, Lee was one of the first UK magicians to successfully fool Penn &
Teller, and is recognised as one of the top performing close-up workers in the
UK today.
Now, to celebrate the forthcoming release of his new book 'Happy Busy Magician:
A Close-up Worker's Guide to Upping Your Game' Lee is taking time out of his
performing schedule to visit and lecture at magic clubs and meet-ups across the
UK. Lee particularly enjoys lecturing, as it is a chance to share ideas, to give
back and spend time with the people he considers friends and colleagues in
magic. Lee's previous lectures have been exceptionally well received.
The lecture includes several of Lee's original ideas, ranging from a higher
technical level, down to self-working, and even includes a children's effect as
well as an easy-to-do watch steal; all whilst explaining why he does what he
does, the thinking behind it, and how to enhance and maximise the magic you do.
Although the lecture contains card effects, it is not entirely a card lecture
and has been created to appeal to all levels with the aim being that everyone
goes away with something new or fun to try out, or ways in which to improve what
they currently do.
