From the organisers: We’re really excited to be launching a new season of
Masterclasses and intimate one-person shows. To get things off to an incredible
start, we’ve gone for the big guns, and on Sunday 7th April from 3pm are
welcoming none other than the legend himself Woody Aragon! This is not your
average teach-in or lecture. This is an intimate gathering for serious students
and fans of Woody’s work. It will go further, deeper and more underground - a
rare opportunity to spend quality time with a master. Places are strictly
limited to 25 and when they’re gone, they’re gone! On the same evening, Woody
will also be presenting a special ‘One Night Only’ performance in our theatre

- A practical lecture with Francisco Mousinho, Nottingham. From the
organisers: April 1st from 7pm-10pm in Nottingham. Have you always struggled
with creating an act that is filled with your persona on stage? How does one
find their own identity? In this practical and enriching lecture, Francisco will
share his creative process, plus the basic guidelines of what he considers to be
the structural concepts that generate strong magic and engaging entertainment.
While illustrating with his own professional repertoire as an example, Francisco
deconstructs his own work to discover its genesis: techniques, choreography,
theatricality and much more. This is the second event of a lecture and workshop
series on Stagecraft, organised by the team behind The Curious Cabaret. Tickets

Tuesday 19th March the Medway Magical Society will be hosting a lecture
by Giancarlo Scalia. This Italian born magician now living in Madrid has
a fast growing reputation for developing and performing magic that
appears simple yet achieves maximum effectiveness. The lecture will be

New
From Mark Leveridge Magic. Here are the latest two routines to be released
in the MLM Select range. 1. Magnetic Coins. Two coins are tipped from a
purse and are placed apart on the table. They are then covered by two playing
cards. With no apparent moves the two coins are suddenly found together under
one of the cards. Replacing them apart again, they are covered once more. Again
the two coins magically jump together under one card. Finally one coin is placed
back into the purse and the other is covered by the two cards. Instantly it
vanishes and is found inside the purse with the first coin. This sleight of hand
effect requires no gimmicks and must be worked on a close up mat. You will only
require some coins, a purse and some playing cards.
2. Parade Of The Kings Revisited. This is a revised version of the
classic Parade Of The Kings packet trick from the 1970s. Four blue backed cards
are counted face down and the performer explains that these are the four Kings.
Two spectators between them decide on one of the Kings. Immediately the magician
spreads the cards to reveal the chosen King has now magically turned face up.
But there is a further surprise when the back of this King is shown to have also
now changed to red. Then there is a final kicker when the other three face down
Kings are turned face up to reveal they are in fact three blank faced cards and
so were never there in the first place! The full face of the selected King can
be openly shown. The handling is casual and innocent looking. Only one packet of

Van Buren. Andrew Van Buren writes: Sadly my father Fred Van Buren passed
away on 6 March 2024 aged 91. He lead a full life of adventure touring his large
shows around the world along with my mother Connie Greta. Dad was not only an
illusionist but also inventor and builder of numerous large scale illusions, all
able to be worked 'in the round', including the unique 'Van Buren's Vanishing
Motorbike and Rider surrounded'. Funeral Monday 15 April, details to be
announced.
