I had a great time at The Magic Circle's Convention on Sunday. It was really good to see and catch up with lots of friends. In the Dealers' Emporium I loved Noel Qualter's soon to be released 'Side Effects' (brilliant). See what's new from Noel Qualter and Roddy McGhie at www.tricktrickboom.com "the home of offbeat magic".

On stage, in the evening show, it was Guy Hollingworth's outwardly traditional performance that stood out. In reality it was far from traditional, being crammed full of Hollingworth innovation, resulting in a very original act that has a delightful, magical finish.

The final stand-out magic moment caught us all out, when a group of friends entered Euston's very own "Amazon Fresh" walk-in supermarket, to witness the ultimate "I know the contents of your bag" trick! Admittedly there was a little pre-show, as I did have to scan my credit card on the way in, but that was it. No irritating login, no "sign-up", no app, nothing. I was then allowed to pick up whatever I wanted (in my case a "Coco Di Mama Pesto Mozzarella Caprese Baguette" as it turned out) and walk out. On the way out, no scanning, no confirming what you'd taken, no receipt, no questions... nothing! Then, later, for the obligatory "kicker finish", an email in my inbox, telling me not only what I'd bought, and how much it had cost, but how long I'd taken to buy it as well... basically everything, apart from where I want to go on holiday next year! DT. 28.6.25
