Nikolai Striebel - I.B.M. British Ring Convention, Buxton Pavilion Arts Centre and Opera House, 19th & 20th September 2026. Artist Announcement from the organisers: Nikolai Striebel. A single sheet of paper becomes a flying object. It folds itself as if by magic, glides through the air and appears to cross the line between reality and the impossible. With his award-winning Paperplane Act, Nikolai Striebel tells a quiet, almost fairytale-like story: one of lightness, wonder, and the beauty hidden in small moments.

Striebel has gained international recognition for his poetic style and modern approach to magic. With this act, he has been named European Champion, and most recently, Vice World Champion of General Magic. Even the legendary duo Penn & Teller were fooled by him on their hit US show Fool Us - an honour achieved by only a select few worldwide. A contemporary magical moment full of poetry, precision, and unexpected beauty. Nikolai will be performing in our Gala Show at the Opera House on Saturday night. For tickets Click Here.

Preserved Thoughts - By Looch. Looch has released Preserved Thoughts, a new limited edition mentalism system built around the familiar idea of affirmation jars. Participants freely remove a slip, silently read it, and yet the performer is able to reveal exactly what they are thinking. At the heart of the project is a single underlying system that powers three completely different themes and audience experiences: Questions to Ask a Psychic, Funny Actions, and De-Motivate.

Designed to remove unnecessary process and allow performers to focus on presentation, interaction, and audience engagement, Preserved Thoughts requires no electronics, apps, or hidden technology. Every slip is genuinely different, creating natural and repeatable performances for close-up, parlour, and small stage environments.

The project has been several years in development and features design work by Phill Smith. Preserved Thoughts is available now as a limited edition release of just 100 sets. For more information visit: www.readmymind.co.uk.

Magic on the Mersey - Liverpool Town Hall, 14th August & 16th October. Magic on the Mersey, the comedy magic show which has entertained thousands of Merseysiders and tourists alike will celebrate its fifth anniversary this summer with a new venue - Liverpool Town Hall.

Steve Price, an award-winning Member of The Magic Circle – the world's most prestigious magical society – launched Magic on the Mersey just as the country was emerging from Covid restrictions. He had spent much of his career as a leading cruise ship magician, and he describes the move on land as his most challenging year.

"It feels like going full-circle," says Price. "The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Mary Rasmussen, attended the very first show in August 2021. If you had told me then that five years, and 100 shows, later I'd be bringing it to Liverpool Town Hall, I don't think I would have believed you." Having performed on cruise ships and in venues across the globe, Price admits he had no clear roadmap when he created Magic on the Mersey – only determination. "In the early days, it was really, really difficult to get an audience," he explains. "But as more people came, word-of-mouth took hold – and before I knew it, five years had passed."

The performances will take place in the atmospheric crypt of Liverpool Town Hall, offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience world-class magic in one of the city's most majestic and historic buildings. Blending expert sleight-of-hand with laugh-out-loud comedy, Price promises an evening of astonishment, connection and unforgettable moments. "My job is to take the ordinary and make it extraordinary. Magic on the Mersey is a chance to forget the worries of life and be transported to a world where anything is possible. It's what we all need."

Magic on the Mersey, Liverpool Town Hall, High Street, Liverpool L2 3SW. Friday 14th August and Friday 16th October. Doors open 7pm. Show starts 7.30pm. Running time: 75 minutes (no interval). Limited capacity seating. Tickets available at: www.magiconthemersey.com.
