Blackpool Magicians Club President's Dinner
Tolley’s Restaurant, Hambleton

The
Blackpool Magicians Club can always be relied on to put an event to be
remembered and President Derek Lever and his lady Anne made sure that the dinner
held on Friday October 19 at Tolley’s Restaurant in Hambleton was no exception.
Some 60 members and partners enjoyed a champagne reception followed by a superb
meal and cabaret of music, magic and comedy.
On the magical side there was Amethyst (Danny Hunt assisted by Annette and
Sarah) with Evaporated Milk and milk from light bulb, a version of the sub
trunk, Pavel’s Walking Knot, Assistant’s Revenge and a new illusion called
Through Metal where Danny walked through a sheet of metal to everyone’s
amazement. There was John Archer (photo) in great form with balloon swallowing
and a book test using A-Z books of maps of various cities with the spectator
choosing a street from the book of their choice. All this was accompanied by
John’s famous comedy and also some of his very accomplished Ukulele playing.
Jemma Louise Doyle gave us a selection of songs and arias, and Tom Pepper closed
the show with the comedy he has made so popular among the cruise passengers he
entertains. Arthur Casson emceed as well as giving us a few songs with that
excellent voice of his.
