The Magic Bar Live, Llandudno
Friday 4th October 2024
Reviewed by Paul Joyce
I went to Llandudno for a long weekend with Sian at the start of October,
when we were walking around I noticed a sign for The Magic Bar Live doing a
Close Up Magic Night with members of The North Wales Magic Circle.
We walked around and went in, bought a drink and spoke with Claire who we found
out was one of the owners, along with her magician husband Chris Williams.
Tickets for the evening were £10 and that included your first drink! We took the
plunge and booked in for the evening.
As a magician, in recent years I have lost a little enthusiasm for my magic,
apart from waiting for my Magic Circular to arrive, or reading the Genii, I
generally haven't seen or performed as much as I should recently.
Anyway, we came back in the evening, Claire greeted us at the door and Chris
took us to our table. We opted to not say that I was a magician at this point,
so that we could enjoy the evening as normal people!
We chose a set meal before the magic started which was absolutely stunning and
cooked by Chris's best friend and co-owner Sion Bashar.
From there the magic started, and we were lucky enough to see Paul, Oliver,
Magic Macauley, Martin and Chris performing.
Every single performer entertained us with some fantastic magic and what was
good to see was that with each performer we saw their own personality come
through in their performance. No repetition of effects either! There were a
couple of performers who we didn't see, but that's only because we ran out of
time, but all night all you could hear was laughter and amazement at each table.
At the end of the night we sat with Chris and a few magicians and had a magic
chat. Sian and I thought it was one of the best nights we have had out in a long
long time and the value second to none.
If you are ever in the Llandudno area I urge you to go along and support them!

On a personal level I would like to thank Chris, Claire and all the team there
for reinvigorating my love and enthusiasm for magic.
