I recently spent a delightful afternoon at the lovely Edwardian theatre In Gorleston, Norfolk. The Pavilion Theatre absolutely oozes atmosphere and mixes the modern with the old in perfect harmony.

I was there to watch Top Secret - The Magic of Science featuring Danny Hunt and Kazia Cannon in the alter egos Professor Danny and Krazy Kazy, the show was very ably produced and directed by Stephanie Hunt.

To say that the capacity audience was ready for a show is an understatement with a large number of very excited children and inquisitive adults, patiently waiting for the performance to begin. The show itself is a clever blend of magic and scientific facts and a lot of fun and managed to keep the audience intrigued until the very end.

The first half introduces the characters and sets the scene for what is to come with a series of science experiments where it is difficult to discern where the line is between science and magic. Also featured was, a very willing volunteer from the audience who became a ‘running gag’ throughout the show having survived the possibility of getting soaked and his phone being blown up and eventually restored to him in one piece!

The second half introduced electricity with a number of science experiments and spectacular displays and featured a modern version of the ‘Mr Electric’ act of yesteryear where Krazy Kazy stood on a plinth and lit neon tubes with her bare hands and even set fire to a fire brand by merely touching it. The children and adults thoroughly enjoyed a show full of facts, magic and spectacular effects including the appropriate warnings of ‘please don’t try this at home’!

The show ended with dramatic fountains flying from 3 coke bottles almost reaching the top of the stage and the front row receding deep into their seats! All in all a great afternoon’s entertainment that successfully bridges the gap in the generations with all the audience going away with smiles on their faces. The show is currently on tour throughout the UK, if you see it advertised, go and see, take the children, you will not be disappointed.
