Andy will be performing for the first part of the afternoon, then talking about his experiences, with the opportunity for Q&A. You will also be able to meet a 111-year-old veteran of the Music Hall, Norman Snodgrass, who, as a ventriloquial figure, used to assist the female ventriloquist Josephine Langley.

This is your last chance to witness a rare and highly anticipated lecture on bizarre magic and storytelling. For those familiar with this branch of magic, Roger is a well known and respected figure whose work has influenced performers for many years. This lecture is his retirement lecture making it a particularly special occasion. His visit is one many members have been looking forward to, including Andrew Normansell and President Matt Price, both of whom share a strong interest in the world of bizarre magic.

Roger is also known as the creator of the “Miracle Signed Card to Envelope” and for his published works through Magick Enterprises. His writing and performance style have helped shape modern bizarre magic, blending narrative, atmosphere, and method into memorable experiences. During the evening, Roger will present a selection of his work, including both new ideas and material drawn from earlier publications such as Dark Matters – The Arcane Thaumaturgy of Dr. Jacob Tordoff, Sublimations, and Orphic Fables. Expect a focus on storytelling, presentation, and the creation of meaningful magical experiences.

In "The Biggest Myths in Learning Magic," Steve tackles the constant stream of 'rules' magicians are told they must follow to win the respect of audiences and peers — advice that can be confusing, often contradicts what actually works in the real world, and, though well-meaning, can be detrimental to your magic and even your mental health. Chris Tennant Lecture - The Surrey Society of Magicians

Paul Dickson writes: Chris Tennant is an award-winning magician, mindreader and professional event host, as well as a member of The Magic Circle. His professional work has taken him through more than 15 years and over 1,000 events, giving him a sizeable body of real-world experience from which to draw.

His lecture, The Last 10%, is about everything that happens after you’ve learnt the trick: the small decisions and refinements that can make the difference between simply performing an effect and creating a moment somebody remembers. What to Expect: Practical mentalism drawn from Chris’s working repertoire. Work with marked decks and billets. Coin magic and other practical material. Audience management developed through repeated real-world performance. Thinking around structure, scripting and presentation. Professional tips and refinements that can turn an existing routine into something substantially stronger.

Rather than simply demonstrating effects and explaining their workings, Chris will examine why particular choices matter: why a routine is structured a certain way, why one presentation gets a stronger response than another, and how apparently minor changes can transform the impact of a performance. His professional work combines magic, mindreading and hosting at weddings, corporate functions and private events, so the lecture comes from the perspective of someone regularly putting these ideas in front of real audiences. Whether you perform professionally, entertain at club nights or simply enjoy developing your magic, the aim is to leave with ideas you can put into practice immediately — including ways to make material you already perform considerably stronger.

Magic on the Mersey - Liverpool Town Hall

Magic on the Mersey, the comedy magic show which has entertained thousands of Merseysiders and tourists alike will celebrate its fifth anniversary this summer with a new venue - Liverpool Town Hall.

Steve Price, an award-winning Member of The Magic Circle – the world’s most prestigious magical society – launched Magic on the Mersey just as the country was emerging from Covid restrictions. He had spent much of his career as a leading cruise ship magician, and he describes the move on land as his most challenging year.

“It feels like going full-circle,” says Price. “The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Mary Rasmussen, attended the very first show in August 2021. If you had told me then that five years, and 100 shows, later I’d be bringing it to Liverpool Town Hall, I don’t think I would have believed you.” Having performed on cruise ships and in venues across the globe, Price admits he had no clear roadmap when he created Magic on the Mersey – only determination. “In the early days, it was really, really difficult to get an audience,” he explains. “But as more people came, word-of-mouth took hold – and before I knew it, five years had passed.”

The performances will take place in the atmospheric crypt of Liverpool Town Hall, offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience world-class magic in one of the city’s most majestic and historic buildings. Blending expert sleight-of-hand with laugh-out-loud comedy, Price promises an evening of astonishment, connection and unforgettable moments. “My job is to take the ordinary and make it extraordinary. Magic on the Mersey is a chance to forget the worries of life and be transported to a world where anything is possible. It’s what we all need.”

Houdini Halloween 100 - The Magic Circle's spectacular centenary celebration of the life of the legendary Master Mystifier. Magician, escape artiste, daredevil, showman, aviation pioneer, silent movie star and scourge of spiritualists, Harry Houdini - being ever the consummate showman - made his 'final escape' on Halloween, 1926.

A century on, we commemorate his extraordinary life, and death, with this never-to-be-seen-again live biopic, written and presented by lifelong fan Paul Zenon, featuring signature Houdini effects and stunts, performed by a cast of very special guests.

What better place to stage this unique Halloween event than the very space where Houdini performed arguably the single most important and pivotal show of his career - the theatre of the London Hippodrome Casino, Leicester Square. From the organisers: We were originally part of the American Fellowship of Christian Magicians and ten years ago became Christian Magicians UK. We hold a conference every February, where we invite magicians to perform and lecture and have workshops and masterclasses. The conference is full board and runs from 1pm on Monday 8th February to 2pm on Thursday 11th (Monday Lunch – Thursday Lunch). Graeme Shaw. Graeme is a really busy working professional and also runs Magicbox. His lecture involves some of his commercial close up magic, as well as tips for family entertainers! Graeme is a past winner of family entertainer of the year at Blackpool magic convention, so he certainly knows his stuff!

Etienne Pradier. Hilariously funny, extremely commercial magic with a touch of “oh la laaa” if you haven’t seen him lecture before, you are in for a treat!

Vinny Sagoo. Vinny uses sleight of hand, as well as devilishly clever mathematical principles to create wonderful close up magic that will fool, and entertain you!

Daniel Chard. Daniel is an expert cardician and a busy working pro, he also does a comedy stand up act that can be seen regularly at Smoke and Mirrors in Bristol. A lecture that will have something for everyone.

Jay Adkins. Jay has been collecting Tenyo magic since he was a young child, and has some very rare and extremely fooling pieces. He will be demonstrating and talking all things Tenyo in his lecture. I’ve seen this myself and it is thoroughly enjoyable!

Matt Windsor. Matt has been at the top of the corporate entertainment field for many years, he is resident magician at Manchester United and is known for his pickpocketing skills as well as being a brilliant entertainer. Matt will be teaching some of the techniques he has developed over the years, as well as telling some hilarious (and true) stories. I’ve heard some and they are so funny.
