Lance Corporal Richard Jones, The Military Mindreader, was the first Magician to ever win Britain’s Got Talent! As well as being a leading TV Magician he is also the UK’s most in demand Corporate Entertainer and an Ambassador of The British Army. Richard is also a proud patron of Scotty's Little Soldiers, Spread a Smile, Farleigh Hospice, Together For Short Lives and an Ambassador of the Royal British Legion.

Richard combines his experiences and training from his 12 years in The British Army with cutting edge Magic and illusion to create unforgettable moments. He regularly visits troops on operations around the world where he puts on shows to lift the morale. Richard has been awarded Member of The Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star, the most prestigious honour among magicians. It is truly an honour to have him as guest lecturer at the club Patron’s night.

The event is in memory of our late member, Jimmy Craig who passed away last October. Jimmy was the founder of the annual Auction Sales which were held for many years in Kircaldy and which attracted magicians from all parts of Scotland.

Covent Garden May Fayre and Puppet Festival

Welcome to the 51st Annual Covent Garden May Fayre and Puppet Festival, a joyful celebration in the heart of the West End and the country’s longest‑running puppet festival. Each year, puppeteers from around the world gather to perform, share ideas, and inspire new generations while honoring centuries of tradition.

The festival marks 9th May 1662, when Samuel Pepys recorded seeing "an Italian puppet play" in Covent Garden—the first written account of a Punch & Judy show in England. A plaque on the wall of St Paul’s Church, commemorates this moment. Inspired by this history, the first May Fayre was launched in 1976, and it has been held every second Sunday in May ever since.

Festivities begin at 11am in the garden of St Paul’s Church, Bedford Street, with a grand procession led by a brass band, followed by a toast to Mr Punch at the plaque. At 12 noon, a special service takes place inside St Paul's, often featuring Mr Punch in the pulpit. Visitors can enjoy Punch & Judy shows, puppetry from Britain and abroad, clowns, stilt walkers, magicians, folk dancing, stalls, workshops and refreshments. Cards In Common 2026 Convention - Manchester

Cards In Common is a community-led playing card event created out of a simple idea: bringing people together - brought to you by the team at A. Haines Playing Cards. After attending a similar convention in London last year, we were approached by multiple people asking the same question —“Would you ever do something like this in Manchester?” A week later, the venue was booked!

From the very beginning, A. Haines Playing Cards was about more than creating and selling playing cards. It was about building real connections with real people. While much of the playing card world exists online, there are very few opportunities to come together in person, meet like-minded people, and share that passion face to face. From this motivation, Cards in Common was born. Intended as a smaller, more intimate one-day event for up to 100 attendees, Cards In Common offers an alternative to large conventions. It’s a space where conversations happen, friendships form, and everyone feels welcome.

Attendees can learn from expert speakers, chat over coffee, browse playing card stalls, share ideas, and enjoy being in a room full of people who simply love playing cards. Open to anyone with an interest in playing cards - magicians, cardists, collectors, creators, and enthusiasts of all backgrounds - the event is built around one unifying idea: A Shared Love of the Shuffle.
