Michael Carr is proud to be returning to the British Ring Convention to compere
the Saturday Night Gala Show: An Evening of Magic at The Devonshire Park
Theatre. He will have the pleasure of introducing a star-studded lineup of
variety artistes. Bernardo Sedlacek is known for his amazingly strong magic,
unique style, creativity, and extreme card skills. Brando and Silvana base their
work on a mixture of different artistic disciplines: Theatre, Mime and Juggling
with Magic. Dion Van Rijt is the most diverse, creative and theatrical
illusionist in the world - his work is a treat for the imagination, and he will
be presenting The White Rabbit and Mr Purpurs for the audience’s entertainment.
Rebecca Foyle is an expert at ‘playing with fire’ and has performed on some of
the biggest stages around the world. Fraser Stokes creates exciting and fully
engaging theatrical performances with unique magic and will bring the endearing
Hamish to Eastbourne. Mark Shortland is internationally well known for his
inventive comedy magic. Todd Landman - The Academic Magician - will provide
mindful magic for the discerning audience. You will laugh out loud at one of the
UK's Best Loved Comedy Ventriloquists Steve Hewlett. Highly acclaimed as one of

The
Selbit Saw Souvenir Charm sells for £1,885 at auction. Fellows Auctioneers write: The charm
had amazing provenance. A
woman called Gladys was given it in 1921 for taking part in the illusion.
Her granddaughter tells the story: "This gold saw was given to my grandmother by the Magician P.T. Selbit for
assisting in his sawing through a woman act at his show at the Finsbury Park
Empire in 1921. It has been kept by my family ever since. Members of the
audience were invited on stage to help with the act and my grandmother took
part. We can assume that Gladys was one of the people holding the ropes which
must have been very exciting."
The gold saw, fashioned as a small charm, was engraved "Sawing through a woman with P. T. Selbit's compliments." Weighing just 1.5g. and made of 9ct gold, it is a piece of history - a souvenir of a pioneering magic act that has become iconic. Fellows entered the charm into auction with an estimate of £30 – £50. pleased to announce that friend of The Magi Andrew Normansell, will be
presenting a new lecture and dealer dem at The Irish World Heritage Centre at
7.30pm. Whilst the contents of this evening are currently being kept a secret,
there is definitely going be something for everyone – including close-up,
cabaret and bizarre / mentalism.

What Happens in Vegas by Liam Montier - Alakazam Magic.
What Happens in Vegas is a super-easy, ultra baffling, double prediction effect.
A deck of Vegas Casino playing cards is shown. Each card has a different back
design representing a different casino and a different face.
Your spectator is invited to stop you at any point as you start dealing the
cards into a pile onto the table (they have a free choice of where to stop; let's
say they stop you on Ballys). You now flip the deck over and start dealing a
face-up pile on to the table (let's say your spectator now stops you on the 7 of
spades).
You now reveal your prediction, a beautiful poker chip, but the casino is wrong?
You turn over the chip and show it has a card printed on the other side, but once
again it doesn’t match.
Well so far this hasn’t gone too well, but then you remember! You turn over the
Ballys card and wham! The card on the face matches the chip! Now comes hit
number two, you turn over their playing card to reveal the casino on the back
and double whammy, the casino on the back matches your chip!
