Number 1184 - Saturday 4th March 2023

An Evening with Wayne Dobson. The Electric Theatre, Guildford. From success in Las Vegas, to starring on the Royal Variety Show and his own TV series, magician Wayne Dobson returns to the stage with a magic show unlike any you’ve seen before. Combining eye-boggling tricks and Wayne’s special brand of comedy, The Wayne Dobson Show is not to be missed.

At the height of his stardom which included three hit TV series of 'Wayne Dobson: A Kind of Magic', which attracted 11 million viewers weekly, Wayne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. As the condition worsened and consigned Wayne to a wheelchair, he retired from public performance. Feeling the urge to perform again, Wayne tried out a couple of private shows and was overwhelmed with his audiences' response. So much so he has decided to do some more. Wayne is joined by his right hand man Mike Sullivan and Special Guest, International Illusionist Kayden Black. Saturday 6th May at 4pm at The Electric Theatre, Onslow Street, Guildford GU1 4SZ. Ian Adair MIMC celebrates the publication of his 331st book, Mind Blowing Mentalism. Published by Magicseen, Mind Blowing Mentalism contains 40 original mental effects and routines. Fully illustrated, this 144 page book was launched at the recent Blackpool Convention.

Ian specialised in dove magic and in mentalism when he was in his teens, and appeared in many programmes on STV (Scottish Television) forecasting the results of football cup finals. His first book on mentalism was published in 1959, simply titled Mental Magic, and over decades he has contributed hundreds of mental type effects in various magic magazines.

This month, two new effects dealing with mental magic have been manufactured by Sam Dalal's firm Funtime Innovations Ltd., in India: 'A Queen like no Other' and 'Crystal Clear Image'. These two effects add to an approximate total of over one thousand marketed products from Ian, advertised and sold by magic dealers worldwide. Asked if any further books are being planned, the now 82 year-old replied "Yes, I have just finished another one - not on mentalism this time. Got to keep that magic brain of mine active!"

New from Mark Leveridge Magic. The latest additions to the MLM Select range of downloads are now ready. Here are the details:

1. Impossible Swap. A small pay envelope with a square hole cut right through its centre is displayed and a selected card slipped inside where it is clearly shown. A second card is then chosen and cut into the deck’s centre. Moments later, the deck is ribbon spread face down to reveal the first selection now face up in the deck centre. Immediately the card inside the envelope is removed to reveal it is actually now the second chosen card. This incorporates a simple yet devious envelope principle that you will be able to use in other effects.

2. Squeeze. This is a wonderfully convincing and natural looking move to enable you to make a borrowed ring instantly penetrate off an ungimmicked length of cord. The ring is genuinely threaded onto the rope and hangs at the bottom of the rope loop. A hand is slid down the cord to the ring and with a single squeeze, the ring drops off and onto a spectator’s hand or the table. No gimmicks or extra rings required, this is one of the moves included in Mark's Ring And String Deluxe package and which is offered here on its own. Both video downloads cost just £7.00 each (£3.50 for E-Club Pro members) and can be found at www.markleveridge.co.uk/product-category/e-club-pro-select. 4.3.23
