Magic Circle Scotland present Bill Malone: A Professional Development Course in Magic, 10th & 11th June, Glasgow. From the organisers: Magic Circle Scotland, Scotland's newest magical society launched itself as a, predominantly, teaching magical society last year. To mark its first anniversary its members have arranged a full two-day event with one of the world's foremost commercial magicians who is best known for his card, close-up, corporate events magic, and his highly energetic comedic style, Bill Malone.

Bill has worked for over 45 years in magic and has built a client base including several Fortune 500 companies, not to mention his magic comedy club "Houdini's Pub" and the Malone's Magic Bar in Florida. To entertain this high-end client base, Bill has developed a system which he runs all his performances through prior to developing shows and performing for clients. This system has worked flawlessly to lift Bill's magic to the level he has held over the last 45 years.

For the first time ever, in Glasgow, Scotland, on 10th & 11th June, Bill is going to reveal this Professional Development Course where he will teach his system and show it working in real-time situations with those attending the course. Obviously, given the nature of this course, numbers attending are extremely limited. This is not a lecture as we have come to expect at many clubs, this is a full two-day course designed from the ground up to elevate your magical performances. In short, Bill has guaranteed that if you apply his system as he teaches it, no matter whether you are a novice or a pro, your performances will improve significantly, enabling you to attract more high-end clients. You will also have a lifetime of access to Bill as a mentor. For Full details please visit www.magiccirclescotland.org/upcoming-events and don't miss out. 15.4.23

The Magic Hour – 10 Year Anniversary. Tony Middleton 'Sonic' celebrates 10 years of his show The Magic Hour, making it the longest running and most successful parlour magic show in the UK. His first performance took place at the St Pancras Renaissance in April 2013, where he was Resident Magician for a year. Since then the show has moved to several other prominent hotels in central London before reaching the prestigious Sheraton Grand Park Lane in Mayfair, where it has been playing weekly for the last 5 years.

Combining his training as a theatre director, producer and magician, he has a created a truly unique experience that has stood the test of time, and pioneered the immersive magic show format in the capital. "I always wanted to make a show that was intimate, personal and theatrical, and evoke the great history of illusion here in London, in a way that was atmospheric. The setting is so important, and the dark wood paneled Oak Room at the Park Lane is just the right backdrop for the experience. It has also been wonderful to play on the same road as Egyptian Hall and reference that in the show – I feel I’m part of the great tradition of magic in London" said Tony

The press have been unanimous in their praise of The Magic Hour – gaining him 5 star reviews across the board, as well as hundreds of 5 star reviews from the public too. Other successes of the show include it being listed as one of the top 10 Halloween experiences in The Metro, gaining the 'TripAdvisor Hall of Fame Award' in 2017 and becoming an 'OffWestEnd' finalist in 2022. His special anniversary show was a complete sell-out. If you love magic you can’t afford to miss this show. More information and tickets: www.magichourshow.com. 15.4.23

Index to Stanyon's Magic. There is a new addition to Michael Colley's range of Indices to Magic Magazines. This is a complete index to the vintage magazine "Magic" published and edited by Ellis Stanyon from October 1900 to June 1920, which included a wide range of magic, from close-up to illusions, together with Stanyon's "Original Lessons in Magic" and his "Dictionary of Magic, which despite containing over 600 entries had only got as far as Card Tricks with Aces before the publication ceased. There are numerous biographies and reports from around the world of the 1900s.

Article / trick entries total 2091, each classified by up to 10 categories, plus 2558 Name entries and 195 Picture entries. There are 400 different categories. The Index is provided by download as an Access Database with search facilities, but can also be supplied as .pdf or as .csv for importing into other databases. The price is £15.

This brings the Colley Indices to 13 - ABRAcadabra, Club71, Demon Telegraph, Gen, Goodliffe's Magic Monthly, The Jinx, Max Andrews Magic Magazine, Magigram, Ted Lesley's Mind and Magic, Stanyon's Magic, Wizard, Magic Circular Pictures and the cumulated Names and Pictures index covering many of the above (34593 Pictures from eight of the Magazines and 17799 Name entries from five). For full details and "tester" database please contact  michaelcolley@themagiccircle.co.uk. Work is in progress on an index to Peter Warlock's "Pentagram" - yes, there is one already, but it is incomplete and much less detailed than a "Colley Index".

Three Kings of England - Mr E Enterprises.  We have just released an item called Three Kings of England in time for the Coronation! "Have you had an invitation to the Coronation of King Charles III?", you ask your audience who reply, "No." In that case you say, "Join me in the Coronation of three previous Kings." And you show three pictures of old English Kings sitting on their thrones.

The Kings are King John, King Richard the Lionheart and King Henry VIII. You also display a cut-out Crown and allow a spectator a free choice of which King they wish to crown with this extra crown. The spectator can change his mind as many times as he wishes, but finally his free choice is marked by the loose crown, so no mistake can be made. Say he chooses King John who was made to seal the Magna Carta in the year 1215. You point out that your prediction of their choice has been in full view from the start, he turns over the crown and to the amazement of your audience in large red letters on its back it reads King John!

Note the following points: No force of any kind is used; the spectator can change their mind as often as they wish. Picture cards and crown are laminated for long life. Carry it in your pocket or wallet and its always ready to perform. The method was invented by Len Belcher, and it is truly baffling one and never fails. It is perfect for the forthcoming Coronation and can be used after this date simply by changing your initial question to, "Did you get an invitation?" Comes complete with laminated cards, prediction, crown, envelope and instructions. www.mreenterprises.co.uk.

Review of Chris Wardle's 'Crafty Conjuring' Lecture for the NMC on 4th April. The Northamptonshire Magicians Club had the pleasure of a lecture from Chris Wardle on the evening of the fourth of April. There was a lot packed into this lecture and hardly a playing card in sight, which was a refreshing change. There was something for everyone to add to their repertoire. Most of the effects were cost effective and could be made up at home. (Chris even tells you where to buy the items from!) A very enjoyable evening was had by all. Thanks Chris! Steve Butler, Club Secretary. 15.4.23
