Number 1203 - Saturday 15th July 2023

British Ring Convention, Eastbourne, 7th-10th September. From the organisers: The full schedule is soon to be released, but here are some teasers to get everyone excited! Charlie Caper is a staple at the Edinburgh Fringe festival with his sell-out show and we are excited that he will be performing his incredible show to close our Convention on Sunday 10th September. Charlie started as a street performer and was the first magician in the world to win a ‘Got Talent’ show (Sweden’s got Talent in 2009). An early trailblazer in performing with 20th century technology and robots, he will also be lecturing on Saturday, 9th September.

After wowing the audience in ‘The One’ Competition at Blackpool Magic Convention, Adrien Quillien will be joining us at Eastbourne in the Gala Show on Saturday 9th September, with his fabulous Bar Act. He will also be presenting his lecture ‘Making Magic Sparkle!’ on Sunday 10th September.

Griffin & Jones won our 2022 Stage Competition and entertained everyone so much we had to invite them back to perform the opening show on Thursday 7th September and lecture Friday 8th September. They are The Pioneers of Slapdash Magic, and the original Idiot Magicians. Whether playfully coercing you into playing one of their ridiculous games, demonstrating one of their hare-brained inventions, or trying to flog you their own brand of miracle snake-oil, the energy remains high, the laughs come thick and fast, and the magic is thoroughly jaw-dropping.

Whilst we hope to see everyone enjoy the full four day convention, remember you can also purchase a weekend registration (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) or you can purchase day registrations for any day of the convention - lots of options so don’t miss out! Book on our website www.britishring.org.uk or contact the registration officer ibmbritishring25reg@gmail.com.

Mr Sam The Magic Man's recent "What I Do and How I Do It!" lecture for The Anglian Magic Society is reviewed by Steve Majes this week. "I have to say that Sam is probably the most creative thinker in children’s and family magic that I know. It’s fascinating to see how Sam’s ideas develop, working them in during his professional shows and tweaking them until they play perfectly with an audience. Most magicians would be keeping this performance gold to themselves, but Sam is so generous and likes to share his ideas." To read the full review Click Here. 15.7.23
