Philip Partridge - the new President of the British Ring! Jemma Tynan reports on last week's convention: After an amazing convention in Eastbourne, I.B.M. British Ring No.25 officially installed their new President Philip Partridge. Philip’s comedy magic has won British Ring awards and Magic Philip is well known on the children’s entertainment circuit in the Northwest. Philip looks forward to promoting the British Ring throughout his presidential year and welcoming everyone to the 86th Annual Convention in September 2024! 16.9.23

 

The British Ring was delighted to bestow Terry Herbert with the position of Honorary Vice-President during the convention, which he graciously accepted amidst a standing ovation (and after jokingly confirming it meant he no longer had to pay subs!). Tea with Terry was a highlight of the Convention for many delegates and congratulations also go to Terry for winning this year’s Ali Bongo Micro-Marathon! 16.9.23

 

Congratulations to Moira Fletcher! International I.B.M. President Charles Arkin surprised our honourable Executive Secretary and Convention Team Leader with a Presidential Award for her outstanding contribution to the magic community. The award specifically mentioned that her boundless energy and kind spirit is inspirational and he thanked her for her 'extraordinary work to elevate our art of magic'. Sentiments the British Ring Membership echo wholeheartedly! 16.9.23

Geoffrey Newton presents his latest Key Ring lecture for The Order of The Magi.  Mike Sharples writes: On Tuesday 26th September Geoffrey Newton presents his latest Key Ring lecture for The Order of The Magi meeting at The Irish World Heritage Centre, Queens Road, Cheetham Hill, Manchester. The lecture starts at 7.45pm. This will be a new selection from the many effects published in that magazine over the years. Available on the night will be the recently produced compilation book The Key Ring Book of Magic which contains over 20 tricks, all practical and easy to make up. Proceeds from book sales are being donated to the Simone Cowland Trust for cystic fibrosis research.
