Number 199 - 17th April 2004
Jeff
Salmon's Sleight of Mind premières at the
New End Theatre on Tuesday April 20th. "Sleight of Mind is a
mind–boggling journey into the power and possibilities of the human mind;
a tantalising puzzle that will leave you amazed and baffled. Using
psychological techniques, a–fast–as–light eye and a razor–sharp wit, Jeff
Salmon engages his audience with a series of mesmerising and utterly
mystifying mind games. With a mixture of applied psychology, misdirection
and showmanship, this is one man who can seemingly predict and control
human behaviour. You won’t understand how he does it – but one thing's for
sure, you’ll enjoy this fast moving and fascinating rollercoaster of a
ride which explores the human psyche." The production is directed by Luke
Jermay and Nick Einhorn and is sponsored and promoted by
Magic 105.4 FM.
From April 20th - May 22nd (phone to check dates and times). Tickets: £17,
concessions £13. Not suitable for under 12s. New End Theatre, 27 New End,
Hampstead, London NW3 1JD (Map)

The
Royal Mail will be issuing a special set of commemorative stamps to
mark The Magic Circle's Centenary next year. This is the first time that a
magic society has been honoured in such a way, acknowledging The Magic Circle's unique standing in
the world of magic. The stamps will be issued on February 5th 2005 and will
be eagerly snapped up by both philatelists
and magicians worldwide. The designs, which have to receive the
approval of Her Majesty The Queen, are being kept a closely guarded secret
until nearer their release date.
John Fisher, The Magic Circle's Executive Curator, who first
approached The Royal Mail, said, "I am absolutely delighted that the
society will be honoured in this way and I am very grateful that The Royal
Mail have agreed to mark this important landmark in our history." Alan
Shaxon, President of The Magic Circle, said "Since our foundation in 1905
we have strived to both elevate and promote the art of magic in all its
forms. This prestigious honour is a reflection of our achievements during
the first one hundred years of our existence." 17.4.04 |
