Number 360 - 19th May 2007
Magicians
opened across the UK on Friday. Here's a link to a short piece in
The Sun, that includes two video clips taken from the movie plus
interview footage with Mitchell and Webb,
"'Magicians' is a surprising treat, a low-budget movie with real
character, simple comedy and no frills. The characters are each the
perfect everyman, in that they are far from perfect. 'Magicians' is never
laugh-out-loud funny but it has genuine cringe value. You'll be fleetingly
entertained, shocked and amused as you watch the proceedings unfold, much
like you would be at an amateur magic show. And while the storyline
remains tame throughout it is the snigger factor that will keep you
watching..." To read the full review in RTE Entertainment

famous Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Thrilling music, exhilarating
choreography, remarkable staging and stunning design will combine to
transform Drury Lane into Tolkien's Middle-earth in a mesmerising and
spectacular theatrical event featuring an ensemble of over 70 actors,
singers and musicians. "Good Lord, it's the Orcs - When orcs rampaged
through the aisles, it was so realistic that women screamed and ran for
the lobby. The Lord Of The Rings musical cost £25million to bring to the
West End and arrived for its British premiere last night featuring a
hi-tech set which helps recreate Middle-earth..." Featuring magic from

and magic assistants wanted for new Channel 4 game show! Win My
Wage is a new game of intuition, deduction and chance. In each show,
there is one contestant and eight wage earners. "During the course of the
show, we reveal entertaining information about each of the eight wage
earners. The contestant must then eliminate them, one by one. Over 6
exciting rounds, the contestant eliminates five wage earners until only
three wage earners remain. The contestant must then decide from the three
remaining wage earners who earns the most amount of money. Each wage
earner will be paid a flat fee - if you make it down to the last three
wage earners and our contestant picks you, you’ll win £3,000." For more

Charles Pemberton. Very sad to report
that Charles Pemberton has died of cancer. A wonderfully charismatic
larger than life gentleman he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. I
first met him many years ago at The Magic Circle. As well as his passion
for magic he was an accomplished actor and just recently enjoyed great
success with his one-man show "A Disagreeable Man?"
