Real-life
Hogwarts reunites for one-off London show. The Demon Magic Club
presents A Night of Magic at the Albany Theatre in Deptford,
London, on Thursday 15th November at 7.30pm. Every year the Demon Magic
Club staged a Christmas magic show for the public, The London Society of
Magicians, and The Magic Circle. The last of these shows took place
exactly ten years ago, in 1997. The club consisted of young magicians who
met every Saturday in the magic studio behind the oldest family-run magic
shop in the world,
Davenport's
Magic in Charing Cross. Members would show each other their latest
effects, exchange ideas and develop new routines, going on to follow their
dreams working professionally in cabaret, theatre, onboard cruise ships,
as magic consultants and even presenters on Saturday morning television.
Some went on to win top national and international awards. 'A Night of
Magic' will celebrate what the club offered, and showcase the talents of
its ex-members ten years on. It should be a great evening. Tickets: £12.50
adults / £8.50 children/OAPs (family ticket £40 - 2 adults and 2
children). Box Office: 020 8692 4446. Albany Theatre, Douglas Way,
Deptford, London SE8 4AG (Map).

"Members
of the Associated Conjurers of East Sussex were enthralled by the
magic and comedy of international illusionist Alex Lodge at their annual
dinner in September. Top marks go to this young man who entertained the
entire audience (including the unexpected children of our hosts!) at
Halland Forge nr Lewes. Delightful company, fantastic magic and a
beautiful dove routine too ... a truly magical experience. The members
were also given the opportunity to meet President Martin Lewis's alta-ego
Prof. Adolf von Mindabenda with a terrific comedic mentalism routine. The
members at ACES always know to expect the unexpected with Martin. Roll on
next year! Annual prizes handed out included the Tony Richards Memorial
Trophy to first time winner John Holden (aka Pierre). Thank you to all
concerned in organising this event especially Mani, David and Martin."
