Jay
Fortune’s Magick and Mayhem show is a mix of the surreal, the
political, and everyday matters of life and death! Jay says "the show
brings together all of the elements which entertain and influence me
outside magic. Combining themes of horror with comedy, it creates a
strange ambience to weave the magic into." Magick and Mayhem is a
card act and something which Jay hopes to grow as the show evolves. "At
the moment we’re doing the show on a basic level of visual elements. In
the future we aim to bring in a projector, video camera and screen to not
only focus on the magic but create images which strengthen the various
plots, whether comical, political or macabre." Magick and Mayhem is
currently showing every Friday up until 7th December at 10.45pm at the
Jermyn Street Theatre, Jermyn Street, London SW1Y 6ST (Map).
Adults only. Tickets £14.00 / £12.00 concessions (Groups 10+ £10.00). To

Headless
Lady on Paul O'Grady Show. Paul O’Grady in seen here in his 'Gomez
Adams' outfit showing the Headless Lady on the Paul O’Grady Halloween
Special Show on Channel 4 on October 31st. The Headless Lady is one of Jon
Marshall’s (www.sideshowillusions.com)
restorations of an original 1950s show, first presented by the late Jon
Gresham. "Paul O’Grady was a delight to work with and the production and
technical crew were brilliant, especially under the pressure of a live
show," said Jon, "I think the audience thought it was a wax work but there
was an audible gasp from the audience when she moved." The Paul O’Grady
show has featured sideshow performers and unusual attractions previously,
mainly the result of contacts with Dr Vanessa Toulmin of the National
Fairground Archive. Paul O‘Grady’s reaction: "I love this sort of thing, I
remember going to a fair in Ireland as a kid with my Dad and I had to
stick pins in a 'sleeping princess' to try and wake her up, later we saw
her coming out of the pub and she looked a right bruiser."
